@lightcone-research/brand
Shared design foundations for Lightcone Research products. The package is CSS-only, scoped, and opt-in.
ASTRA adapter
The adapter requires @astra-spec/ui >=0.0.5 <0.1, which supplies its typography
and semantic colour tokens.
npm install @lightcone-research/brand @astra-spec/uiImport the adapter before the ASTRA component styles:
@import "@lightcone-research/brand/adapters/astra.css";
@import "@astra-spec/ui/styles.css";Opt the ASTRA root into both contracts:
<section
class="lightcone-brand astra-ui"
data-lightcone-color-scheme="light"
data-astra-color-scheme="light"
></section>The host integration is responsible for keeping both scheme attributes in
sync with its own theme state. Use dark instead of light for the dark
scheme.
Licenses
The package CSS is available under the BSD 3-Clause License; see LICENSE.
Bundled Alegreya, Newsreader, and Quattrocento fonts are available under the
SIL Open Font License; see the corresponding fonts/OFL-*.txt files.
Shared editorial appearance
The Astra adapter is the canonical appearance for Astra publications, JupyterLab
and VS Code. It preserves the publication's inline and popover reference:
Newsreader prose and italic annotations, Alegreya labels, Quattrocento page
headings, parchment surfaces and the publication's record-kind colours. The
existing --lc-font-mono stack (IBM Plex Mono with system fallbacks) supplies
identifiers across all hosts.
--lc-type-* defines the editorial type scale. The adapter sets --astra-*
directly on .lightcone-brand and its .astra-ui roots, so article prose and
components share one token contract. The generic themes.css palette remains
available to other applications. Component selectors and icon markup belong
in Astra UI.
The existing upright serif assets are unchanged. Newsreader italic is the only
added font face, registered in fonts.css alongside the existing local WOFF2
assets and covered by fonts/OFL-Newsreader.txt. The adapter uses the existing
monospace stack without adding a font asset.
Applications own surrounding layout, portal placement and scheme synchronization.
For global host CSS, Astra UI provides an opt-in isolate.css boundary. Shared
components and the brand adapter should be upgraded together and verified with
Astra UI's cross-application rendering fixture before release.
