Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@liquidcars/atlas-geometry-processes

Independent 3D geometry pack for standard process and flowchart symbols in @liquidcars/atlas.

import "@liquidcars/atlas";
import "@liquidcars/atlas-geometry-processes";

The import registers the process.* geometry namespace. The pack is declarative from the host's point of view: it contributes canonical sizes, typed parameters, local palette colors, named anchors and compound parts, but does not depend on Three.js.

Included symbols

| Geometry | Use | | --- | --- | | process.terminator | Start / end | | process.activity | Task, subprocess or call activity | | process.decision | Decision/gateway | | process.data | Data input/output | | process.manual-operation | Manual operation | | process.document | Document or record | | process.predefined-process | Reusable named routine | | process.stored-data | Persistent data store | | process.internal-storage | Internal storage | | process.direct-data | Disk/drum-like direct data | | process.manual-input | Manual data entry | | process.preparation | Preparation/setup | | process.parallel-mode | Parallel execution | | process.loop-limit | Bounded loop | | process.display | User-facing display | | process.connector | In-page sequence/junction | | process.off-page-reference | Continuation on another page | | process.annotation | Note attached to a symbol | | process.control-transfer | Control-flow transfer | | process.condition | Condition/rule gate |

The symbols are intentionally process-oriented rather than generic primitives: they preserve the visual vocabulary of flowcharts while remaining volumetric, selectable and compatible with Atlas relations.

Studio presents the everyday vocabulary as Processes · Essentials and the specialized flowchart vocabulary as Processes · Advanced. This grouping changes only discovery and display names; all existing geometry ids remain stable and backwards compatible.

Example

- id: receive-order
  name: Receive order
  geometry: process.terminator
  geometryOptions:
    kind: start

- id: validate-order
  name: Validate order
  geometry: process.activity
  geometryOptions:
    variant: task

- id: order-valid
  name: Order valid?
  geometry: process.decision
  geometryOptions:
    outcome: neutral

- id: rejected
  name: Rejected
  geometry: process.document
  geometryOptions:
    copies: 2

relations:
  - from: receive-order
    to: validate-order
    label: begins
  - from: validate-order
    to: order-valid
    label: checks
  - from: order-valid
    to: rejected
    label: "no"

A local palette can override the default colors without changing the model semantics:

{
  "geometry": "process.display",
  "geometryOptions": {
    "screen": "active"
  },
  "geometryPalette": {
    "body": "#263746",
    "accent": "#f4d35e"
  }
}

Images are optional on the few symbols where a real visual asset is useful. The pack deliberately avoids text-based icon fields because entity labels are the semantic caption and front-face text competes with them. Images accept browser-loadable URLs or data URIs; external hosts must permit cross-origin loading when required by the browser.

Design notes

The symbols follow common flowchart semantics while remaining volumetric. The terminator is a single rounded pill, documents use a light paper face with a wave at the lower edge, connectors face the camera as compact discs, and notes use the familiar folded-corner Post-it silhouette.

The pack uses namespace process and registers itself on import:

import processGeometryPack from "@liquidcars/atlas-geometry-processes";

console.log(processGeometryPack.geometries.map(geometry => geometry.id));
