Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@liveness/sdk

An event-driven JavaScript SDK for browser-based Active Liveness Detection and Face Identity Verification.

Installation

npm install @liveness/sdk

Quick Start

import { LivenessSDK } from "@liveness/sdk";

const sdk = new LivenessSDK({
  basePath: "/models",
  challengeTimeout: 10000,
  minBrightness: 50,
});

sdk.on("ready", () => console.log("SDK is ready"));
sdk.on("challenge", ({ type, instruction, distance }) => updateUI(instruction));
sdk.on("progress", ({ progress }) => updateProgressBar(progress));
sdk.on("success", (result) => {
  console.log("Verified!", result.descriptor);
  console.log("Security Metadata:", result.antiSpoofing);
});
sdk.on("failure", (error) => console.error("Validation failed:", error.code, error.message));
sdk.on("error", (error) => console.error("System error:", error.code, error.message));

await sdk.load();
await sdk.start(videoElement, canvasElement);

API Reference

Configuration Options (new LivenessSDK(config))

  • basePath (string, default: ""): Base URL directory for model asset files.
  • minBrightness (number, default: 50 or -0.92 normalized): Minimum required brightness threshold.
  • maxFFTPeak (number, default: 180.0): Maximum peak threshold for digital screen Moiré pattern detection.
  • challengeTimeout (number, default: 5000): Maximum duration in ms allowed per challenge.
  • targetFPS (number, default: 30): Target FPS processing rate.
  • instructions (object): Custom instruction text overrides.

Event Reference

  • ready: Fired when neural network models finish loading.
  • challenge: Fired when an active challenge step changes or updates. Payload: { type, instruction, distance }.
  • progress: Fired as the user progresses through an active challenge step. Payload: { progress, rawValue }.
  • success: Fired upon successful completion of all challenges and anti-spoofing checks. Payload: { descriptor, sessionToken, timestamp, challenges, integrity, antiSpoofing }.
  • failure: Fired if anti-spoofing or active challenge validation fails. Payload: { code, message }.
  • error: Fired on hardware, browser, or initialization errors. Payload: { code, message }.

Features

  • Randomized Active Challenges: Blink, Turn Left, Turn Right.
  • Advanced Anti-Spoofing: FFT Moiré Detection, Laplacian Texture Analysis, Depth Variance.
  • Identity Verification: Face identity feature extraction (1792-d vector) and matching.
