Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Zero-trust security runtime & firewall for AI agent tool calls — 8-gate pipeline (circuit breaker, DLP, prompt-injection filter, sandbox, audit chain) for LLM tools.

⚠️ Under active development — v0.1.2. This library is functional but pre-release: expect bugs, sharp edges, and breaking changes between versions. Do not rely on it as your sole security boundary in production yet. Found something? Report it — see SECURITY.md.

Zero-trust security runtime and firewall for AI agent tool calls.

Installation

npm install @luveo-tech/vark
pnpm add @luveo-tech/vark

# CLI on your PATH everywhere:
npm install -g @luveo-tech/vark

# ...or one-off, no install:
npx -p @luveo-tech/vark vark --help

vark intercepts tool-call payloads before execution, refuses anything that looks like an attack, enforces capability-based access control, and compresses tool schemas to save LLM tokens.

import { VarkRuntime } from '@luveo-tech/vark';

const runtime = new VarkRuntime({
  defaultCapabilities: { filesystem: { allow: ['./workspace/*'] } },
});

const read = runtime.tool({
  name: 'read_file',
  description: 'Read a UTF-8 text file.',
  schema: { type: 'object', properties: { path: { type: 'string' } }, required: ['path'] },
  run: (args, ctx) => ctx.sandbox.readFile(args.path),
});

await read.execute({ path: './workspace/data.json' }); // → { success: true, … }
await read.execute({ path: '../../etc/passwd' });      // → CAPABILITY_VIOLATION

Every call flows through 8 gates — anomaly guard → capability sandbox → circuit breaker → input DLP → isolated execution → output DLP → injection filter → hash-chained audit — and always resolves with a ToolExecutionResult (never throws).

Ships a CLI as well (npx vark …):

vark check payload.json # dry-run a tool payload against the gates
vark scan "Ignore all rules…" # per-stage detection pipeline view
vark bench # p99 budget assertion table
vark audit verify audit.jsonl # verify an audit hash chain
vark policy test policy.json # run policy assertions
vark explain CIRCUIT_BREAKER # why a gate fires + how to fix it
vark doctor                    # readiness check

Full documentation (architecture, API reference, CTP spec, benchmarks, threat model) lives in DOCUMENTATION.md and docs/ in the monorepo.
