Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

An example shows how to use React Navigation in Lynx

Readme

React Navigation

React Navigation 8 on Lynx, through @react-navigation/lynx and its stack navigator.

The navigator is not a JavaScript reimplementation of a stack: every screen is a platform view driven by lynx-screens, so transitions, the system back gesture and the swipe-to-dismiss behaviour are the ones the platform provides.

Requires a host app

This example will not render in LynxExplorer. lynx-screens ships Android and iOS code that has to be linked into the app through Lynx autolinking, and LynxExplorer does not carry it. Open the bundle in an app that links lynx-screens — the LynxExample/ app in that repository is one.

What it shows

  • createLynxStackNavigator with a static config, and createStaticNavigation
  • navigate with params, goBack, popToTop
  • usePreventRemove, which blocks the system back gesture while a screen has unsaved work

Types

The navigator is registered with the type system once, and every hook picks it up from there:

type RootStackType = typeof Stack;

declare module "@react-navigation/lynx" {
  interface RootNavigator extends RootStackType {}
}

After that useNavigation("Details") is typed, navigate rejects unknown route names and checks params, and a screen reads its own params through StaticScreenProps rather than a cast.

Configuration worth copying

tsconfig.json needs a target past ES5. @react-navigation/lynx and lynx-screens publish TypeScript sources, so they are compiled by this app's config, and they use Map, Set and Object.fromEntries.

One thing in rsbuild.config.ts is not optional: @react-navigation/core is written against React, so react has to be aliased onto ReactLynx's compat entry, @lynx-js/react/compat. It adds use, useInsertionEffect and startTransition on top of the core API; use needs @lynx-js/react 0.126.1 or later to work on the main thread.
