Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

YouTube Music player for your terminal. Search and stream music directly from YouTube — no browser, no ads, no distractions.

Requirements

  • mpv — media player
  • yt-dlp — YouTube stream extractor

macOS

brew install mpv yt-dlp

Linux (Debian/Ubuntu)

sudo apt install mpv
pip install yt-dlp

Windows

winget install mpv.mpv
winget install yt-dlp.yt-dlp

Installation

via NPM

npm install -g @mammadovziya/ytmusic-cli

via Homebrew (macOS)

brew tap mammadovziya/ytmusic-cli
brew install ytmusic-cli

Usage

ytmusic-cli

Shell Shortcut (Fast Access)

For even faster access, you can add an alias to your shell profile (.zshrc or .bashrc):

alias ym='ytmusic-cli'

Now just type ym to start listening!
