Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Pair a host or VM with a miaBot account

Readme

Machines

Scripts to stand up each computer kind and register it on a miaBot account.

The Machines tab registers placement only. A computer starts when a bot needs a desktop or shell. Durability stays in AgentHomeStore, not the provider VM.

Add in the app

  1. Sign in (personal desktop or hosted origin).
  2. Settings → Machines → Add
  3. Pick a kind. Pairing kinds show a code.
  4. On a paired host or VM (blank Ubuntu is fine after Node is installed):
npx --yes @mantisware/miabot-agent pair --code CODE

Pass --origin https://your-account.example or set MIABOT_ORIGIN. For a local account, pass --origin http://127.0.0.1:5173.

Keep that process running as a normal user. The hosted account sends shell and file work to this process — same permissions as the user who launched it. Workspaces live under ~/.miabot/computers. Live desktop preview is not tunneled yet. --backend docker is only for a local container supervisor.

  1. Open a bot → Computer → Machine and select the row.

Agent is accepted as an alias: npx --yes @mantisware/miabot-agent Agent pair --code CODE --origin URL.

Same RPC from this folder:

export MIABOT_ORIGIN=http://127.0.0.1:5173
export [email protected]
export MIABOT_PASSWORD=...
apps/machines/add.sh --kind docker
apps/machines/add.sh --kind pair --name Lab

Do not print those credentials.

Scripts

| Script | Kind | How it joins the app | | --- | --- | --- | | docker.sh | Docker pool | Settings → Add → Docker, or --add (machines/create) | | desktop.sh | This computer | Personal app only. Settings → Add → This computer, or --add | | pair.sh | Paired host | Settings → Add → Pair, then miabot-agent.sh pair | | vm.sh | Paired VM | Settings → Add → Virtual machine, then pair inside the guest | | parallels.sh | Parallels VM | --add uses adapter parallels | | ssh-vnc.sh | Attached SSH+VNC | --add uses adapter ssh-vnc | | firecracker.sh | MicroVM engine | .env SANDBOX_PROVIDER=firecracker (not an Add row) | | e2b.sh | E2B engine | .env SANDBOX_PROVIDER=e2b + E2B_API_KEY | | daytona.sh | Daytona engine | .env SANDBOX_PROVIDER=daytona + DAYTONA_API_KEY | | box.sh | Box engine | .env SANDBOX_PROVIDER=box + BOX_API_KEY | | miabot-agent.sh | Pairing client | machines/completePair on the host being added | | add.sh | All Add rows | Shared create / beginPair helper |

fake is test-only. Do not add it on a real account.

Deployment engines (SANDBOX_PROVIDER) pick where new computers boot. Machines rows pick a named placement on top of that. See docs/self-host-sandbox-providers.md and docs/computer-runtime.md.
