An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for Foundily — the startup-equity math API. It exposes Foundily's SAFE conversion, priced-round modeling, dilution, and exit-waterfall calculations as tools any MCP-compatible LLM client (Claude Desktop, Claude Code, etc.) can call directly.
Foundily does the actual math server-side; this package is a thin stdio bridge between an MCP client and the Foundily HTTP API.
Install
No install step is required — run it on demand with npx:
npx -y @maxedlabs/foundily-mcpRequired environment
| Variable | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| FOUNDILY_API_KEY | Yes | Your Foundily API key. Create one at foundily.com/dashboard/api-keys. |
| FOUNDILY_API_BASE | No | Overrides the API base URL. Defaults to https://foundily.com/api/v1. |
If FOUNDILY_API_KEY is missing, every tool call returns a clear error asking
you to set it — it will not silently fail or fabricate results.
Claude Desktop
Add to your Claude Desktop config (claude_desktop_config.json):
{
"mcpServers": {
"foundily": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@maxedlabs/foundily-mcp"],
"env": {
"FOUNDILY_API_KEY": "fd_live_..."
}
}
}
}Claude Code
claude mcp add foundily --env FOUNDILY_API_KEY=fd_live_... -- npx -y @maxedlabs/foundily-mcpTools
| Tool | Description |
|---|---|
| convert_safe | Convert a SAFE/convertible note at a priced round; returns ownership %, shares, and conversion price. |
| model_round | Model a priced financing round with SAFE conversion and an option-pool top-up; returns the post-round cap table. |
| compute_dilution | Run a multi-round dilution scenario (SAFEs + priced rounds) and return per-round cap tables plus the founder ownership trail. |
| exit_waterfall | Compute an exit/liquidation waterfall across preferred series; returns each stakeholder's proceeds and return multiple. |
Example prompts
convert_safe— "I raised a $500k SAFE with a $8M cap and no discount. We're now closing a Series A at a $20M pre-money with $4M invested. How does my SAFE convert — how many shares and what ownership %?"model_round— "Founders hold 8,000,000 shares total, there's a 1,000,000-share existing option pool, and we're raising a $3M Series Seed at a $12M pre-money with a 10% post-round option pool target. Show me the resulting cap table."compute_dilution— "Walk me through dilution across: a $250k SAFE at a $5M cap, then a $2M seed round at $8M pre-money, then a $10M Series A at $40M pre-money. How does founder ownership trend across each round?"exit_waterfall— "We're being acquired for $50M. There's 6,000,000 common shares, a Series Seed with $2M invested / 1,000,000 shares at 1x non-participating, and a Series A with $10M invested / 3,000,000 shares at 1x participating with a 3x cap. Who gets what?"
Development
npm install
npm run build # compiles src/ -> dist/ via tsc
npm start # runs the compiled server (expects FOUNDILY_API_KEY in env)The server communicates over stdio using the MCP protocol — it is not meant to be run interactively; point an MCP client at it instead.
