Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Anchor Browser browsers for mayura/browser, over its sessions API.

Readme

@mayurajs/browser-anchor

Anchor Browser browsers for mayura/browser: hosted Chromium sessions, created over Anchor's sessions API and driven over CDP, from any runtime, with no dependency.

npm install mayura @mayurajs/browser-anchor
import { createBrowsers } from 'mayura/browser';
import { anchorBrowsers } from '@mayurajs/browser-anchor';

const browsers = createBrowsers(anchorBrowsers({ apiKey }), {
  maxBrowsers: 2, maxLifetimeMs: 30 * 60_000,
  origins: ['https://example.com'],
});
const browser = await browsers.open();
await browser.goto('https://example.com/');
await browser.release();
  • Each browser is a session: created when opened, ended when released. Anchor ends it at its lifetime, given as its maximum duration in whole minutes (Anchor's docs disagree on its default, so it is always given), and idleTimeoutMinutes (1 by default) after nothing is connected, such as when this process stops.
  • Recording and ad blocking are off, though Anchor's own defaults are on; turn them on with recording and adblock. No proxy and no captcha solving. Labels become the session's tags, as key=value.
  • liveViewUrl is Anchor's live view: by default it only shows the session (liveView: 'view'); 'interact' lets whoever has the link use it too, and false gives none and runs the browser headless.
  • Anchor answers ending a session it no longer has with "invalid API key or session id" (401). Since the key worked when the session was created, that counts as already ended.
  • Anchor's CDP URL carries the API key: treat it as a secret; Mayura never logs it.
  • Origins are enforced inside the browser, by intercepting its requests over CDP. This has not yet been tried against Anchor itself: should its connection not allow that, opening a browser fails rather than running unchecked.
  • Options: apiKey, liveView, adblock, recording, idleTimeoutMinutes, maxLifetimeMs (24 hours), fetch, baseUrl.
