Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

ferd

Fork a Pi session into a parallel Herdr pane, explore independently, then merge the fork back at the marked leaf.

Provides the /ferd slash command and the ferd_fork LLM tool. Merge and delete remain slash-command-only for safety.

Requirements

Run Pi inside Herdr (HERDR_ENV=1).
Keep the herdr CLI available in PATH.

Install

pi install npm:@mblarsen/pi-ferd

Usage

LLM tool: ferd_fork — lets the agent create a fork programmatically.

Workflow

Run /ferd or /ferd prompt <text> in the parent session.
Ferd splits the current Herdr pane and starts the branched Pi session there.
Work in the fork. Both sessions show a guidance widget.
Run /ferd merge --dry-run in the fork, then /ferd merge to confirm.
Restart the parent session with the command printed by ferd.

The parent session file is modified externally during merge. Restart Pi before continuing in the parent.
