Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

This is a Quasar app, so all you have to do is quasar dev and quasar dev. You can test it out now and you will have running the MD-Plugins web site.

All you need to do now is change the configuration and landing page to make it your own.

Configuration

Modify src/siteConfig/index.ts

  1. Make any appropriate changes to the siteConfig.ts file

Modify src/components/LandingPage/LandingPage.vue

  1. Update the LandingPage.vue file to include your own content

FAQ

Q. I have errors in my routes.ts file, what should I do? A. You can remove the following line: import type { RouteRecordRaw } from 'vue-router' and also remove the type keyword from the routes variable (: RouteRecordRaw[]).

Q. I still see an error in my routes.ts file, for _key, what should I do? A. In your eslint.config.js file, add/replace the following in your rules:

      '@typescript-eslint/no-unused-vars': [
        'error',
        {
          argsIgnorePattern: '^_',
          ignoreRestSiblings: true,
          varsIgnorePattern: '^_',
        },
      ],

Q. Everytime I save a markdown file, prettier changes it so that it breaks. How can I prevent this? A. This is both a prettier and eslint issue. In eslint.config.js, add the following to the top of the file, right after export default [:

  {
    /**
     * Ignore the following files.
     * Please note that pluginQuasar.configs.recommended() already ignores
     * the "node_modules" folder for you (and all other Quasar project
     * relevant folders and files).
     *
     * ESLint requires "ignores" key to be the only one in this object
     */
    ignores: ['eslint.config.js', '**/*.md', 'dist/**/*', 'node_modules'],
  },

If you don't have a .prettierignore file, create one and add the following:

# Ignore all Markdown files:
**/*.md

Updating

When you update, only the src/.q-press folder will be updated as well as the file src/q-press.global.d.ts. If you want to re-install everything, just remove the src/siteConfig folder.

To make it easier to update, you can use the following command:

quasar ext invoke @md-plugins/q-press
