Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.2.0

ZenStack v3 CLI plugin: generate a ts-rest CRUD contract (Effect Schema, via Standard Schema) from your ZModel schema.

Readme

@mdht/plugin-ts-rest-contract

npm CI

Generate a typed ts-rest CRUD contract from selected ZenStack models. The generated request and response validators use Effect Schema through the Standard Schema interface—no parallel Zod model to maintain.

Schema Codegen Bridge architecture

Install

npm install --save-dev @zenstackhq/cli @mdht/plugin-ts-rest-contract
npm install effect @ts-rest/[email protected]

The exact ts-rest release candidate is currently required. ts-rest 3.52.x does not accept Standard Schema validators in contracts.

Configure

plugin tsRestContract {
    provider = '@mdht/plugin-ts-rest-contract'
    output = '../generated/ts-rest-contract.ts'
}

model Product {
    sku         String  @id
    name        String
    description String?
    createdAt   DateTime @default(now())

    @@tsRestContract
}

Run npx zen generate. The generated module exports:

  • ProductSchema for complete response records
  • ProductCreateSchema for create bodies
  • ProductUpdateSchema for patch bodies
  • productContract for the model's five CRUD routes
  • contract combining every marked model

Generated routes

| Operation | Method and path | |---|---| | List | GET /products | | Read | GET /products/:sku | | Create | POST /products | | Update | PATCH /products/:sku | | Delete | DELETE /products/:sku |

Natural IDs without defaults remain required in create bodies. Defaulted fields are optional on create, nullable fields accept null, and ID fields are excluded from patch bodies. Compound IDs produce one path segment per ID field, for example /warehouseBins/:warehouseId/:binNumber.

import { initClient } from '@ts-rest/core';
import { contract } from './generated/ts-rest-contract.js';

export const api = initClient(contract, {
  baseUrl: 'https://api.example.com',
  baseHeaders: {},
});

Scalar mapping

| ZModel | Effect Schema | |---|---| | String | Schema.String | | Int / Float | Schema.Number | | Boolean | Schema.Boolean | | DateTime | Schema.DateFromString | | Enum | Schema.Literal(...) | | Json / Unsupported(...) | Schema.Unknown |

Relations are intentionally excluded from REST schemas; their scalar foreign-key fields remain. BigInt, Decimal, and Bytes use documented lossy fallbacks.

Requirements

See the full documentation and verified example.
