Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@med-o/ui

v0.7.0

Published

React components of the med.o Design System. Styles are plain CSS on top of @med-o/design-tokens and can be reused by other frameworks.

Readme

@med-o/ui

Accessible React components of the med.o Design System. Behaviour comes from React Aria Components (keyboard, focus, screen readers, touch), the look from plain CSS on top of @med-o/design-tokens. Target: WCAG 2.2 AA, Light and Dark.

Documentation, playground and all components: design.med-o.de

Install

npm install @med-o/ui @med-o/design-tokens

Requires React 19.

Use

Import the styles once, for example in your app entry:

import '@med-o/design-tokens/css/tokens.css';
import '@med-o/ui/styles.css';

Then use the components:

import { Button, TextField } from '@med-o/ui';

<TextField label="Email" type="email" isRequired />
<Button onPress={save}>Save</Button>

React Aria naming: onPress instead of onClick, isDisabled instead of disabled, isInvalid, isRequired, isReadOnly.

The package is ESM only and marked "use client", so it works in the Next.js App Router as a client component.

Layout

Container, Stack and Grid apply the spacing rules of @med-o/design-tokens – no spacing value is chosen by hand:

import { Card, Container, Grid, Stack } from '@med-o/ui';

<Container as="main">
  <Stack gap="section">
    <Stack as="section">
      <h2>Projects</h2>
      <Grid>
        <Card title="Roadmap 2027">Shared with 4 people.</Card>
        <Card title="Q4 budget">Shared with 2 people.</Card>
      </Grid>
    </Stack>
  </Stack>
</Container>

Container sets the content width and the page margin, Stack the space between blocks (content, or any rule with gap), Grid as many columns as fit with the gap items.

Support and versions

| Chrome, Edge | Safari (macOS, iOS) | Firefox | Samsung Internet | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | 117 | 17.5 | 129 | 24 |

Supported: the last two major versions; the table shows the minimum versions. Tested automatically in Chromium, WebKit and Firefox. Requires React 19; ESM only. Accessibility target WCAG 2.2 AA – please report a violation as a GitHub issue.

While the package is 0.x, a patch only fixes bugs and a minor may contain breaking changes – each marked Breaking: in the changelog, with how to update. @med-o/ui and @med-o/design-tokens are always released together with the same version.
