Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@meterbox/cli

v0.1.0

Published

meterbox: command-line client for the Meterbox /v1 API, with commands generated from the platform's OpenAPI spec.

Readme

@meterbox/cli

meterbox: command-line client for the Meterbox /v1 API. Commands are generated from your deployment's OpenAPI spec at startup, so every public /v1 endpoint shows up automatically and new endpoints need no CLI release. The spec handling and dispatch live in @meterbox/ops.

Install

npm install -g @meterbox/cli

Requires Node.js 18 or later.

Configure

export METERBOX_BASE_URL=https://meterbox.ai # or your self-hosted Meterbox host
export METERBOX_API_KEY=mb_live_...            # Settings > API keys

API keys are scoped to one environment (sandbox or production), so the key picks the environment. METERBOX_ADMIN_KEY is still read if METERBOX_API_KEY isn't set.

Optional:

  • METERBOX_OPERATOR_ID (or --operator-id): sent as X-Operator-Id and recorded on audit rows, so people sharing a key can be told apart.
  • METERBOX_CLI_REDACT=true (or --redact / --no-redact): filter secrets and personal data out of responses before printing.

Use

meterbox --list                        # every operation
meterbox <operation> --help # inputs for one op
meterbox get_v1_plans
meterbox post_v1_plans_by_id_publish pro
meterbox post_v1_customers_by_id_credits cus_42 --amount_usd 25 --reason apology
meterbox get_v1_audit --event plan.update --limit 20

Arg conventions

  • Positional: path parameters in OpenAPI order. meterbox get_v1_plans_by_id pro.
  • --<name> value: query parameters and individual body fields.
  • --body '<json>' or --body @file.json: send an explicit request body as-is, overriding per-field flags.

JSON is printed to stdout. Failures include the server's error message and the response X-Trace-Id, so you can match them against server logs.
