Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Microfox Usage Tracker

A powerful usage tracking system for Microfox AI that enables tracking of LLM and API usage across your applications.

Features

  • Track LLM usage (tokens, models)
  • Track API usage (request counts, data)
  • Daily, monthly, and yearly usage reports
  • Redis-based storage with Upstash
  • TypeScript support with full type safety
  • Environment variable configuration

Installation

npm install @microfox/usage-tracker

Configuration

The usage tracker requires Redis configuration. You can provide this either through environment variables or constructor options:

Environment Variables

MICROFOX_REDIS_URL_TRACKER=your_redis_url
MICROFOX_REDIS_TOKEN_TRACKER=your_redis_token
MICROFOX_CLIENT_REQUEST_ID=your_client_id

Constructor Options

interface UsageTrackerConstructorOptions {
  redisOptions?: {
    url: string;
    token: string;
  };
  prefix?: string;
}

Supported Usage Types

1. LLM Usage

Track language model usage including:

  • Model identifier
  • Prompt tokens
  • Completion tokens
  • Optional markup percentage
interface LLMUsage {
  type: 'llm';
  model?: string;
  promptTokens: number;
  completionTokens: number;
}

2. API Usage

Track API usage including:

  • Request key
  • Request count
  • Optional request data size
  • Optional markup percentage
interface API1Usage {
  type: 'api_1';
  requestKey?: string;
  requestCount: number;
  requestData?: number;
}

Usage Examples

Basic Setup

import { createMicrofoxUsageTracker } from '@microfox/usage-tracker';

const tracker = createMicrofoxUsageTracker({
  redisOptions: {
    url: 'your_redis_url',
    token: 'your_redis_token',
  },
});

Tracking LLM Usage

await tracker.trackLLMUsage('my-package', 'gpt-4', {
  promptTokens: 100,
  completionTokens: 50,
});

Tracking API Usage

await tracker.trackApi1Usage('my-package', 'api-key', {
  requestCount: 1,
  requestData: 1024,
});

Retrieving Usage Data

// Get today's usage
const dailyUsage = await tracker.getDailyUsage();

// Get monthly usage
const monthlyUsage = await tracker.getMonthlyUsage();

// Get yearly usage
const yearlyUsage = await tracker.getYearlyUsage();

// Get usage for specific package
const packageUsage = await tracker.getDailyUsage('my-package');

Environment Variables for Package-Specific Tracking

For each package you want to track, you can set these environment variables:

PACKAGE_NAME_SECRET_TRACKING=markup
PACKAGE_NAME_SECRET_MARKUP_PERCENT=10

Replace PACKAGE_NAME with your actual package name (converted to uppercase with hyphens/spaces replaced by underscores).
