@microwiseai/ist-setup

Unified installer and diagnostic CLI for Integrated Session Tools (IST).

ist-setup installs the IST test snapshot (@ist/beta) through the IST registry-proxy, and provides diagnostics, authentication, service control, and configuration helpers around it.

Install

npm install -g @microwiseai/ist-setup

Requires Node.js >= 18.

ist-setup declares only its own ist-setup bin — it does not ship ist or snapshot bins. Those commands are provided by their owner packages and are set up by ist-setup install:

• snapshot — from @microwiseai/snapshot, installed globally by ist-setup install.
• ist (authentication: ist login / ist whoami) — from @microwiseai/cli-auth, installed globally on a best-effort basis by ist-setup install.

So npm install -g @microwiseai/ist-setup alone gives you ist-setup; run ist-setup install to provision snapshot and ist.

What it does

ist-setup install does not download packages itself — it ensures the snapshot CLI is present and delegates to it to install the @ist/beta snapshot. The snapshot is fetched from the IST registry-proxy as a generic tarball; the proxy resolves the version and serves the package contents.

Prerequisites

• Node.js >= 18.
• Login before installing the testing tier: ist-setup auth login (opens a browser via the ist CLI). Without valid credentials in ~/.ist/credentials, install reports "Authentication required".

Quick start

npm install -g @microwiseai/ist-setup
ist-setup auth login        # browser login → ~/.ist/credentials
ist-setup install           # install the @ist/beta snapshot (latest)
ist-setup doctor            # verify the environment

Commands

All commands accept --json for machine-readable output.

Install

ist-setup install                       # install @ist/beta (latest)
ist-setup install --version <ver>       # install a specific version, e.g. 0.6.18
ist-setup install --list                # list available versions (does not install)
ist-setup install --force               # force reinstall even if already installed

• --version <ver> selects a specific snapshot version (omit for latest). The version is passed through to the snapshot CLI, which resolves it via the registry-proxy.
• --list queries the registry-proxy for available versions and prints them (newest first, with the latest marked) without installing.
