Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@midnight-ntwrk/midnight-did-domain

Domain model and validation layer for Midnight DID documents and metadata.

Responsibilities

  • DID/DID URL parsing and validation
  • DID Document schemas and normalization
  • Lossless RFC3986 DID URL reference resolution
  • Service endpoint and key schema constraints

Architecture

graph TD
  Inputs[API / Manager / Resolver inputs]
  Domain[Domain schemas + normalization]
  Outputs[Canonical DID document model]

  Inputs --> Domain --> Outputs

Normalization Sequence

  Domain->>Domain: canonicalize identifiers/references
  Domain->>Domain: enforce relation/service constraints

DID Document Validation State (conceptual)

stateDiagram-v2
  [*] --> Parsed
  Parsed --> Canonicalized
  Canonicalized --> Valid : all constraints satisfied
  Canonicalized --> Invalid : schema/semantic violation
  Valid --> [*]
  Invalid --> [*]

Identifier/reference normalization

resolveDIDURLReference accepts an absolute URL/DID or a relative DID URL reference and resolves it against the bare DID subject. Canonical identities are absolute and preserve path, query, and fragment components:

#svc                  -> did:midnight:...#svc
/routing              -> did:midnight:.../routing
?service=messaging    -> did:midnight:...?service=messaging
/a#svc                != did:midnight:.../b#svc

Use the resolved value for ledger keys, duplicate checks, API mutations, and resolver output. Do not reduce a path or query reference to its fragment.

Resolution Metadata

DIDResolutionResultSchema accepts DID Core resolution envelopes so resolver services can validate abstract resolution payloads and accept representation-response metadata. For successful abstract resolve responses, didResolutionMetadata.contentType should be omitted. For resolveRepresentation responses, contentType describes the returned DID Document stream and should be application/did+ld+json or application/did+json.

When resolution fails, didResolutionMetadata.error should use DID Core's registered keywords such as invalidDid, notFound, representationNotSupported, methodNotSupported, or internalError. Extension keywords remain valid when they are a single ASCII keyword. Resolution error keywords must start with a letter.

Build & Test

  • Build: pnpm --filter ./packages/domain build
  • Test: pnpm --filter ./packages/domain test
  • Coverage: pnpm --filter ./packages/domain coverage

Notes

  • Domain is pure TypeScript and intentionally runtime-agnostic.
  • API/Manager/Resolver depend on this package for consistent behavior.
