Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Qwen Code Termux

Native Qwen Code CLI for Termux / Android ARM64. This fork tracks upstream QwenLM/qwen-code closely and carries only the Android/Termux compatibility delta needed to package and run it.

npm termux latest release license

Install

Termux (Android ARM64)

pkg update && pkg upgrade -y
pkg install nodejs-lts -y
pkg install termux-api -y # optional, only for TTS notifications
npm install -g \
  --allow-scripts=@mmmbuto/qwen-code-termux,@mmmbuto/node-pty-android-arm64,sharp \
  @mmmbuto/qwen-code-termux@latest
hash -r
qwen --version

npm 12 blocks install scripts by default. The narrow allowlist above permits only the fork's reviewed wrapper repair and its two native Termux dependency installers. If npm 12 previously installed the package without running those scripts, rerun the same command; do not replace the allowlist with a blanket script override.

Requirements:

  • Android 7+ / API 24+
  • ARM64 device
  • Termux from F-Droid (Google Play build is outdated)
  • Node.js >= 22

Other platforms

Use upstream:

npm install -g @qwen-code/qwen-code

Scope

What this fork does:

  • tracks upstream Qwen Code release by release
  • preserves only the Android/Termux compatibility delta upstream does not ship
  • publishes a Termux-ready npm package and GitHub release assets
  • maintains a small, verifiable patch surface (scripts/check-termux-patches.sh)

What this fork does not do:

  • maintain a broad feature fork or product divergence
  • replace upstream Qwen Code on non-Termux platforms
  • carry fork-only features unrelated to Termux compatibility
  • publish SDKs, VS Code extensions, channels, or Docker images downstream

Current Termux Delta

  • Android ARM64 PTY fallback via @mmmbuto/node-pty-android-arm64 (prebuilt, bundled as optional dependency)
  • Termux runtime detection (isTermux() checks process.platform, TERMUX_VERSION, PREFIX)
  • base64 polyfills (btoa / atob) for older Android Node builds
  • tts_notification tool backed by termux-tts-speak (requires termux-api)
  • DEP0169 (url.parse deprecation) warning suppression in the CLI entry point
  • install / update commands point users at @mmmbuto/qwen-code-termux
  • managed background npm updates remain pinned to the fork package
  • when npm lifecycle scripts are authorized, postinstall safely moves an exact orphaned upstream standalone wrapper out of PATH after the npm launcher is ready; the original is retained as qwen.qwen-code-termux-orphan
  • prepare-termux skips husky and the bundle step inside Termux
  • npm package metadata published under @mmmbuto/qwen-code-termux

Fork delta is verifiable end-to-end with:

bash scripts/check-termux-patches.sh

(21 markers across getPty.ts, termux-detect.ts, termux-runtime.ts, tts-notification.ts, cli/index.ts, installationInfo.ts, managed-npm-update.ts, scripts/, package.json)

If qwen still resolves to a shell-cached path after upgrading from the upstream standalone installer, run hash -r and verify the active launchers with type -a qwen.

Releases and Updates

Maintainer publish flow:

  • merge upstream release tag into develop
  • verify the Termux delta with scripts/check-termux-patches.sh
  • build, bundle, prepare:package, smoke qwen --version
  • promote the tested commit to clean GitHub main and wait for Termux CI
  • stage the exact audited npm tarball on next
  • install that registry version on a real Termux device with the narrow script allowlist, then promote the same version to latest
  • publish the GitHub release from main with the exact tarball and checksum
  • add the verified on-device report to the release documentation

Authentication

Qwen Code Termux keeps upstream Qwen Code authentication behavior. Interactive:

/auth

API-key auth can be configured through ~/.qwen/settings.json or upstream provider environment variables. For Alibaba Cloud ModelStudio / DashScope:

export DASHSCOPE_API_KEY="YOUR_API_KEY"
qwen

The Qwen OAuth free tier was discontinued upstream on April 15, 2026. Use Alibaba Cloud Coding Plan, OpenRouter, Fireworks AI, or another configured API provider.

Validation

Termux on-device smoke suite: test-reports/suites/latest/termux.md

Minimum smoke:

qwen --version
qwen --help
qwen -p "Reply with OK"

Validation history under test-reports/.

Documentation

For generic Qwen Code documentation, refer to upstream.
