Overview

ssh-mcp exposes 37 tools that let Claude Code manage remote servers over SSH. Capabilities include command execution, file transfer, database operations, backup/restore, health monitoring, and automation hooks.

Installation

Published to npm as @mokoconsulting/mcp-mokossh. Requires Node.js >= 18.

Run directly with npx (no install):

npx @mokoconsulting/mcp-mokossh

Or install globally (also provides the ssh-manager CLI):

npm install -g @mokoconsulting/mcp-mokossh

From source:

Configure your servers and credentials via a .env file — see the Installation guide for prerequisites and multi-server setup.

Usage

Register the server with an MCP client such as Claude Code by adding it to your .mcp.json:

Once connected, the agent can call all 37 tools across the six groups (Core, Database, Backup, Monitoring, Deployment, Automation) to execute commands, transfer files, run database operations, create backups, monitor health, and automate DevOps workflows on remote servers. Tool enablement is managed with the ssh-manager tools CLI. See the API reference for every tool and its parameters.
