Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Editor scaffold: top bar with save/publish, main canvas, optional side panel

Readme

@molecule/app-editor-layout-react

React editor layout scaffold.

Exports <EditorLayout> — sticky top bar + main canvas + optional side panel. Used for blog post editors, product editors, bot flow editors, etc.

Auto-generated, AI-first package reference for the molecule.dev ecosystem. It is written to be read by coding agents as much as by people, and is generated from this package's source — edit src/index.ts JSDoc, not this file.

Quick Start

import { EditorLayout } from '@molecule/app-editor-layout-react'
import { EditorToolbar } from '@molecule/app-editor-toolbar-react'

;<EditorLayout
  topBar={<EditorToolbar title="Untitled post" />}
  canvas={<ArticleEditor />}
  sidePanel={<MetadataPanel />}
  sidePanelOpen={true}
/>

Type

Installation

npm install @molecule/app-editor-layout-react @molecule/app-react @molecule/app-ui @molecule/app-ui-react react
npm install -D @types/react

API

Interfaces

EditorLayoutProps

Props for {@link EditorLayout}.

interface EditorLayoutProps {
  /** Sticky top bar — typically title + save/publish buttons + status indicator. */
  topBar: ReactNode
  /** Main editing canvas (wysiwyg, drawable area, form, code editor). */
  canvas: ReactNode
  /** Optional right-side settings / metadata panel. */
  sidePanel?: ReactNode
  /** Side-panel position — defaults to `'right'`. */
  sidePanelPosition?: 'left' | 'right'
  /** Whether the side panel is currently visible. */
  sidePanelOpen?: boolean
  /** Extra classes. */
  className?: string
  /** `data-mol-id` for AI-agent selectors. */
  dataMolId?: string
}

Functions

EditorLayout(props)

Three-region editor scaffold: sticky top bar + main canvas + optional collapsible side panel.

Used by blog post editors, product-listing editors, chatbot flow editors, design canvases, etc.

function EditorLayout({
  topBar,
  canvas,
  sidePanel,
  sidePanelPosition = 'right',
  sidePanelOpen = true,
  className,
  dataMolId,
}: EditorLayoutProps): JSX.Element
  • props — Component props (see {@link EditorLayoutProps}).

Injection Notes

Requirements

Peer dependencies:

  • @molecule/app-react ^3.0.0
  • @molecule/app-ui ^1.0.1
  • @molecule/app-ui-react ^3.0.0
  • react ^18.0.0 || ^19.0.0

Runtime Dependencies

  • @molecule/app-react

  • @molecule/app-ui

  • @molecule/app-ui-react

  • react

  • The scaffold claims the FULL viewport height (h-screen flex column). Render it as the page root; nesting it below another fixed-height app shell produces double scrollbars.

  • The side panel container sets flex-shrink 0 but NO width — your sidePanel content must define its own width.

  • topBar is wrapped in a sticky container by the layout itself (unlike <DetailPageLayout>); the slot does not need its own stickiness, but should bring a surface background.

  • ArticleEditor and MetadataPanel above are your own components.

  • Styling resolves through getClassMap() — requires a wired ClassMap bond (standard molecule app setup). No text of its own.
