Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Appunvs Cloud (Mortar) Skill

Agent Skills package for building on Appunvs Cloud, powered by the Mortar BaaS. The package and Skill ID retain the stable mortar engineering name. Install the canonical SKILL.md and its references/ into a compatible agent's skill directory to teach it the SDK core invariants plus on-demand capability references. The split keeps Fabric's loaded prompt small without hiding the storage, realtime, functions, auth, or database guidance when a task needs it.

Install

npm i -g @mortar-ai/skill
mortar-skill-install
# → installs to ~/.claude/skills/mortar/SKILL.md

Then restart Claude Code (or /skill reload).

The same versioned SKILL.md and references/ package is built into Fabric Harness. manifest.json binds the npm version and Harness preinstall to a deterministic package SHA-256 digest; the Fabric Server rejects a Market install when the running Harness reports different bytes. npm is an external distribution channel and is not required by Fabric at runtime.

Pairs naturally with the Mortar MCP server — the skill teaches Claude how to think about Mortar; the MCP gives it live tools to act on a project. Install both for the full Supabase-plugin-equivalent experience.

What's inside

The skill teaches Claude:

  • Core contract — Fabric-owned client/config files, schema-first workflow, real versioned SQL plan/apply, supported DDL, access-policy invariants, OpenAPI-driven application code, version boundaries, and completion checks.
  • OpenAPI reference — the canonical Mortar REST contract is mirrored from mortar/docs/public/openapi.yaml for on-demand operation/schema lookup; the AI Turn writes project-language request and response code through Harness.
  • Database reference — CRUD, filters, atomic row mutations, trusted cross-table transactions, and ACID boundaries.
  • Auth reference — email/password, phone OTP, sessions, password reset, and public-access policy choices.
  • Storage reference — upload/download, signed URLs, immutable physical versions, metadata pointers, CORS, and row/object consistency boundaries.
  • Realtime reference — Postgres changes, broadcast, presence, unsubscribe, and teardown.
  • Functions + automation — invoke/deploy boundaries, cron, queues, and transactional enqueue.
  • Analytics + operations — capture/flush, usage, managed logs, primitive billing attribution, and object-egress evidence.
  • Trusted services — communications, encrypted secrets, accounts/projects, keys/PATs, custom domains, top-up, and capacity.
  • Architecture reference — all 9 infrastructure primitives, the open capability registry, application modules, usage accounting, and credential/trust surfaces.

Custom install location

mortar-skill-install --dest=/path/to/your/skills/dir/mortar.md

Useful for team-shared skill repositories or in-repo skill packs.

Updating

Re-run mortar-skill-install after npm update @mortar-ai/skill. Idempotent — overwrites in place.

Maintainer release

SKILL.md and the Markdown files in references/ are the hand-edited instruction sources. references/openapi.yaml is generated from the canonical mortar/docs/public/openapi.yaml; never edit the mirror directly. Keep the core short and move capability detail into a routed reference. Regenerate the manifest, OpenAPI mirror, and Harness copy before testing or publishing:

npm run sync
npm run check
npm pack --dry-run

The repository-level synchronizer is shared with Keel and fails on missing configured reference directories, resource drift, or unexpected Harness files. Never edit fabric/harness/internal/skills/preinstalled/mortar/ directly.
