Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Coinbase MCP

Crypto prices from the public Coinbase API. No key required.

This file is self contained. It reads public data only and never writes to the machine. All output is bounded and honest about what could not be fetched.

Tools

  • spot Latest spot price for one pair, e.g. BTC-USD.
  • exchange Crypto-to-fiat exchange rates for one base currency.
  • buy Coinbase buy price for a pair, returns base, currency and amount.
  • sell Coinbase sell price for a pair, returns base, currency and amount.
  • currencies How many currencies Coinbase supports with a fiat count and a 15-code sample. Full list omitted for size.
  • time Coinbase server time as ISO string and epoch, useful for timestamping quotes.
  • exchange_stats Coinbase Exchange 24h open, high, low, last and volume for a product, with the day's range.
  • candles Coinbase Exchange OHLCV candles for a product at 1m to 1d granularity, with the period change.
  • exchange_ticker Live Coinbase Exchange ticker: price, bid/ask, spread, 24h volume and last trade id.
  • order_book Coinbase Exchange level-2 book: top bids and asks with sizes, order counts and the spread.
  • trading_products Coinbase Exchange products for a quote currency, e.g. every USD or USDT market, with online status.

Usage

npm install
npm run build
node dist/index.js

Data comes from the public Coinbase API.

Premium tools

These tools need a license key:

  • product_info
  • recent_trades

Buy a key at https://mcp-marketplace.io/server/io-github-mrfentmen-coinbase-mcp and set it in your MCP client config:

"env": { "MCP_LICENSE_KEY": "mcp_live_..." }

The key is checked against MCP Marketplace, cached for 24 hours, and keeps working offline once one check has succeeded. Every other tool on this server stays free.
