Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Readme

nestForge 🔨

A powerful CLI tool for scaffolding production-ready NestJS applications and generating well-structured modules, controllers, and services with ease.

🚧 Project Status

This project is currently under active development and is not yet ready for production use.

📖 About

nestForge is a comprehensive NestJS CLI tool that goes beyond nest new and nest generate. It not only scaffolds complete, production-ready applications but also generates well-organized modules with proper folder structure, CRUD operations, and automatic module imports.

🎯 Features

Current/Planned Features

🔧 Component Generation (Like nest generate, but better!)

  • Generate Modules - Creates organized module structure with folders
  • Generate Controllers - Creates controllers with CRUD endpoints
  • Generate Services - Creates services with business logic
  • Generate DTOs - Creates Data Transfer Objects
  • Generate Entities - Creates database entities/schemas
  • Automatic Imports - Auto-updates app.module.ts and module files
  • CRUD Operations - Full CRUD scaffolding out of the box

🏗️ Project Scaffolding

  • Complete project setup (better alternative to nest new)
  • 🗄️ Database setup (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • 🔐 Authentication strategies (JWT, OAuth, Session)
  • 📚 API documentation (Swagger)
  • 🐳 Docker configuration
  • 🧪 Testing setup
  • 🚀 CI/CD pipelines
  • And much more...

📦 Installation

# Coming soon
npm install -g @mugabodannyshafi/nestforge

🚀 Usage

Create a New Project

# Create a full NestJS project with all configurations
nestforge new my-app

Generate Components

# Generate a complete module with organized structure
nestforge generate module users

# Generate a controller with CRUD endpoints
nestforge generate controller users

# Generate a service with business logic
nestforge generate service users

# Generate everything at once (module + controller + service + DTOs)
nestforge generate resource users

# Short aliases also work
nestforge g module users
nestforge g controller users
nestforge g service users
nestforge g resource users

Generated File Structure Example

When you run nestforge generate module users, you get:

src/
└── users/
    ├── dto/
    │ ├── create-user.dto.ts
    │ └── update-user.dto.ts
    ├── entities/
    │ └── user.entity.ts
    ├── services/
    │ ├── users.service.ts
    │ └── users.service.spec.ts
    ├── controllers/
    │ ├── users.controller.ts
    │ └── users.controller.spec.ts
    └── users.module.ts

Plus: Automatic import in app.module.ts! No manual configuration needed.
