Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@mulmoclaude/accounting-plugin

Double-entry accounting plugin for MulmoClaude and MulmoTerminal. Three surfaces: ./shared (isomorphic enums/meta, browser-safe), ./vue (chat View/Preview + canvas app), ./server (createAccountingRouter — the workspace-file-backed backend, wired via dependency injection so it pulls zero host-only infra).

A plugin for MulmoClaude and MulmoTerminal — loaded by the host, not run standalone.

Host wiring

A single-workspace host (MulmoClaude) wires three calls once at boot:

configureAccountingServer({ workspaceRoot, logger });
initAccountingEventPublisher(pubsub);
app.use(createAccountingRouter());

A host that serves one root per project directory (MulmoTerminal) wires the same three differently:

configureAccountingServer({
  workspaceRoot: null, // explicit-root mode: a forgotten root throws
  logger,
  channelScopeForRoot: (root) => projectIdForRoot(root), // opaque id, or null for the default root
});
initAccountingEventPublisher(pubsub); // unchanged — the scope comes from the dep above
app.use(createAccountingRouter({ resolveWorkspaceRoot: (req) => rootForRequest(req) }));
configureAccountingHost({ apiCall, subscribe, localeTag, projectScope }); // the Vue surface

Both are opt-in and default to today's behaviour. The invariants behind them:

  1. A bookId is unique within a root and nowhere else. Anything keyed by bookId alone — a channel, a rebuild queue, a card — is a cross-project collision waiting to happen.
  2. workspaceRoot: null is the safety net. With N roots, a forgotten root is not a crash but a silent read or write against the wrong project; explicit-root mode turns it into a clear throw.
  3. A project is named by an opaque id, never a path. Channel names and card envelopes reach the browser; an absolute root there publishes the user's home directory.
  4. The model never picks a project. manageAccounting's schema has no project parameter (pinned by a test), and this package never resolves one off a request body — only the host's own resolveWorkspaceRoot does.

Dev loop

yarn workspace @mulmoclaude/accounting-plugin run build
yarn workspace @mulmoclaude/accounting-plugin run test
