Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@nanoagent/plugin

v0.1.6

Published

Small option-composition helpers for `@nanoagent/kernel`.

Readme

@nanoagent/plugin

Small option-composition helpers for @nanoagent/kernel.

@nanoagent/kernel executes agent run. @nanoagent/plugin builds final RunAgentOptions from reusable pieces.

npm install @nanoagent/kernel @nanoagent/plugin

Plugins

Plugin is option transform.

import { runAgent } from '@nanoagent/kernel'
import { skillsPlugin, withPlugins } from '@nanoagent/plugin'

const options = withPlugins(baseOptions, [
  {
    hooks: {
      onTurnCompleted: async ({ turn }) => {
        console.log('turn completed', turn.turn)
      }
    }
  },
  skillsPlugin()
])

for await (const event of runAgent(options)) {
  console.log(event.type)
}

No runtime, server, session manager, dependency container, package loader, or plugin registry is included. Apps own those.

API

  • AgentPlugin: transforms RunAgentOptions.
  • withPlugins: applies plugins in order.
  • sessionPlugin: projects session history into messages and records model output.
  • skillsPlugin: loads local SKILL.md files, injects the model-visible skill catalog, and exposes readSkill.
  • skillRoots: returns Codex-style default roots.
  • loadSkills: scans skill roots and returns catalog metadata.

Plugin order is behavior. Earlier middleware wraps later middleware because kernel executes middleware arrays left to right. Put skillsPlugin after plugin that assembles messages.

Skills

Skill root contains directories with SKILL.md.

.agents/skills/
  publish-nanoagent/
    SKILL.md
    agents/openai.yaml

SKILL.md uses scalar YAML frontmatter.

---
name: publish-nanoagent
description: Publish Nanoagent npm packages.
---

Run package checks, npm dry-run, then publish when auth is present.

agents/openai.yaml supports Codex-compatible implicit policy.

allow_implicit_invocation: false

skillsPlugin injects the catalog for implicit skills by default. The model uses the catalog to decide which skill matches the task, then calls readSkill with the listed name or path to load the full SKILL.md body before applying it.

Explicit $name mentions still inject the full matching SKILL.md body before the last user message. Duplicate explicit names stay unselected unless caller supplies select.

Default roots scan .agents/skills, .claude/skills, and .codex/skills from cwd ancestors, $CODEX_HOME/skills, $HOME/.agents/skills, and $HOME/.claude/skills. Missing roots are skipped.

const options = withPlugins(baseOptions, [
  buildMessagesPlugin,
  skillsPlugin({
    select: ({ skills }) =>
      skills.filter(skill => skill.name === 'publish-nanoagent')
  })
])
