Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@natsuneko-laboratory/makit-theme-product

A Makit theme for product documentation — the kind that sits one click from a marketing site. Soft cards, pill navigation, a gradient home page, and a reading column with room to breathe.

Install

pnpm add @natsuneko-laboratory/makit-theme-product
// makit.config.ts
import { defineConfig } from "@natsuneko-laboratory/makit";

export default defineConfig({
  theme: {
    extends: "@natsuneko-laboratory/makit-theme-product",
  },
});

The theme's manifest supplies radius: "large" and accentColor: "indigo". Anything set in makit.config.ts takes priority over those defaults.

Accents

theme.accentColor accepts the names below, or any CSS color (used as-is for both schemes). Each name carries a light/dark pair, because the theme's two backgrounds — white and a deep navy — need different weights to stay legible.

| Name | Light | Dark | | --------- | --------- | --------- | | indigo | #4f46e5 | #818cf8 | | violet | #7c3aed | #a78bfa | | blue | #2563eb | #60a5fa | | sky | #0284c7 | #38bdf8 | | teal | #0d9488 | #2dd4bf | | emerald | #059669 | #34d399 | | rose | #e11d48 | #fb7185 | | amber | #d97706 | #fbbf24 |

Both palettes meet WCAG AA against their background for body, subtle, and accent text.

Unlike the terminal theme, this one honors theme.radius throughout.

Slots

The theme implements thirteen slots:

RootLayout, DocsPage, PortalHomePage, NotFoundPage, Header, Sidebar, NavigationItems, Breadcrumbs, PageHeader, PrevNextLinks, TableOfContents, Footer, ThemeVariables.

Everything else falls back to Makit's standard theme — its rounded, variable-driven styling already matches, so rewriting it would only add surface area.

Notes

PageHeader renders an eyebrow above the title, taken from the page's nearest ancestor in the canonical navigation hierarchy. No configuration is involved: a page under guides/ gets "Guides".
