Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@needless-ui/angular

v0.6.3

Published

Angular components for Needless UI: signal-based, zoneless-ready, styled by @needless-ui/css.

Readme

@needless-ui/angular

Angular components for Needless UI, the Needlessly Engineered Styling Toolkit. They use signal inputs, work zoneless and with SSR, and are styled by @needless-ui/css. Keyboard and ARIA behavior for composite widgets comes from Angular Aria.

Requires Angular 22.

Install

pnpm add @needless-ui/angular @angular/aria @angular/cdk

Import the styles once in src/styles.css:

@import '@needless-ui/css';

Use

Each component has its own entry point, so your bundle only contains what you import. The primary entry point, @needless-ui/angular, holds what they share: types, the customization inputs and springTransition().

import { NuiButton } from '@needless-ui/angular/button';
import {
  NuiDialog,
  NuiDialogActions,
  NuiDialogClose,
  NuiDialogTitle,
} from '@needless-ui/angular/dialog';
import { NuiMenu, NuiMenuItem, NuiMenuTrigger } from '@needless-ui/angular/menu';

@Component({
  imports: [
    NuiButton,
    NuiDialog,
    NuiDialogTitle,
    NuiDialogActions,
    NuiDialogClose,
    NuiMenu,
    NuiMenuItem,
    NuiMenuTrigger,
  ],
  template: `
    <button nuiButton variant="outline" [nuiMenuTrigger]="actions">Actions</button>
    <div nuiMenu #actions="ngMenu">
      <div nuiMenuItem value="rename" (selected)="rename()">Rename</div>
      <div nuiMenuItem value="delete" tone="danger" (selected)="confirming.set(true)">Delete</div>
    </div>

    <dialog nuiDialog size="sm" [(open)]="confirming" (closed)="$event === 'delete' && remove()">
      <h2 nuiDialogTitle>Delete this project?</h2>
      <div nuiDialogActions>
        <button nuiButton variant="soft" tone="neutral" nuiDialogClose autofocus>Cancel</button>
        <button nuiButton tone="danger" nuiDialogClose="delete">Delete</button>
      </div>
    </dialog>
  `,
})
export class ProjectActions {
  readonly confirming = signal(false);
  rename() {}
  remove() {}
}

Each component's full contract (API, keyboard, accessibility) lives in specs/.

Customize

Every component takes the customization presets as inputs. Leave one unset and it follows the nearest data-nui-* attribute, so a whole app can be set in one place:

<body data-nui-motion="bouncy" data-nui-corners="squircle">
  <button nuiButton press="rubber" motion="elastic">Boing</button>
  <dialog nuiDialog enter="flip" [spring]="{ stiffness: 300, damping: 9 }">…</dialog>
</body>
  • NuiButton: motion, spring, press, corners, radius, density
  • NuiDialog and NuiMenu: enter, motion, spring, corners, radius, density

spring takes any { stiffness, damping, mass } and compiles it to CSS with springTransition(), the same solver that builds the spring tokens. NuiPersonality gives your own components the same inputs as a host directive.

Browser support

| Browser | From | | ----------------------------------------- | ------ | | Chrome and Edge, on computers and Android | 120 | | Firefox, on computers and Android | 125 | | Safari on Mac | 17 | | Every browser on iPhone and iPad | iOS 17 | | Samsung Internet | 25 |

Tested in Chromium, Firefox and WebKit, on computers and touch screens. Older browsers aren't supported: without the Popover API, menus, selects and popovers don't open. See the browser support guide.
