appium-testid-catalog
Build a single typed, bare testID catalog per feature area instead of
scattering string literals across React Native components and WDIO specs. A
shared registry helper validates id uniqueness at dev-time, a WDIO-side
mirror module re-exports the exact same catalog object so app code and test
code can never drift apart on an id string, and this skill also owns the
authoritative nativeUtils.buildSelector() locator-translation contract that
turns a bare testID into a platform-correct native selector.
What it covers
- A registry helper that builds a nested,
as constcatalog object of bare testID strings and throws on duplicate leaf values in development. - A WDIO-side mirror module that re-exports the identical catalog object.
- The
nativeUtils.buildSelector()locator-translation contract and the Android/iOS platform-divergence table for turning a bare testID into a platform-correct native selector.
Use it
Read SKILL.md for the invariants and the locator-translation reasoning.
Copy the genericized templates from references/ as the starting shape for
a new feature's catalog.

Pairs with appium-testid-attributes, appium-attribute-waits, and appium-page-objects. This skill defines the registry, mirror, and locator-translation mechanics that produce and resolve the catalog in the first place; those companion skills consume catalog ids inside components, waits, and page objects respectively, without redefining how the catalog itself is built, validated, mirrored, or translated into a native selector.
