Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@nl-framework/openapi

v0.5.1

Published

OpenAPI 3.1 document generation for nl-framework: derives schemas from class-validator DTOs, enumerates routes, serves the JSON document plus a self-contained viewer. No CDN or network at runtime.

Readme

@nl-framework/openapi

Generate an OpenAPI 3.1 document from the metadata nl-framework already captures — routes, param sources, and class-validator DTOs — and serve it with a self-contained viewer. No runtime dependency on any Swagger library, and no CDN or network access at runtime.

Installation

bun add @nl-framework/openapi

Usage

import { Module } from '@nl-framework/core';
import { OpenApiModule } from '@nl-framework/openapi';

@Module({
  imports: [
    OpenApiModule.forRoot({
      title: 'My API',
      version: '1.0.0',
      // path: '/openapi.json', // JSON document route (default)
      // ui: '/docs', // viewer route (pass `false` to disable)
      servers: [{ url: 'https://api.example.com' }],
      securitySchemes: {
        bearer: { type: 'http', scheme: 'bearer', bearerFormat: 'JWT' },
      },
    }),
  ],
})
export class AppModule {}

The document is built once at boot and cached. Existing apps gain docs with zero decorator changes — path parameters are discovered from the route template even when the handler reads them off the request context.

Schema derivation

Schemas come from class-validator metadata plus reflected design types:

| Decorator | Result | | --- | --- | | @IsString / @IsInt / @IsNumber / @IsBoolean / @IsDate | type | | @IsEmail / @IsUUID | type: string + format | | @IsEnum(E) | enum with inferred type | | @Min / @Max | minimum / maximum | | @Length / @MinLength / @MaxLength | minLength / maxLength | | @Matches(re) | pattern | | @IsOptional | dropped from required | | @ValidateNested (+ @Type) | $ref into components.schemas (cycle-safe) | | { each: true } | wrapped in an array of item schemas |

A validated @Body() DTO becomes the requestBody and implies a 400 response. A handler return type that is a class becomes the 200 response schema.

Enrichment decorators

All are metadata-only and override/extend the derived values:

  • @ApiTags(...tags) — controller- or method-level grouping
  • @ApiOperation({ summary, description, deprecated })
  • @ApiResponse(status, { type?, description? })
  • @ApiSecurity(name)
  • @ApiExcludeEndpoint()

Programmatic API

import { buildOpenApiDocument, classToJsonSchema } from '@nl-framework/openapi';

const document = buildOpenApiDocument([UsersController], { title: 'API', version: '1.0.0' });
const schema = classToJsonSchema(CreateUserDto);

Versioning

Routes declaring @Version() are emitted under a version-prefixed path (/v2/users by default; configurable via versionPrefix).
