Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@object-ui/cli

v5.0.1

Published

Standalone CLI for Object UI — scaffold, develop, build and validate JSON/YAML schema-driven applications.

Readme

@object-ui/cli

Standalone CLI for Object UI — scaffold, develop, build, lint, test and validate JSON/YAML schema-driven applications.

npm install -g @object-ui/cli
# or one-shot:
npx @object-ui/cli dev app.json

Why standalone?

ObjectUI is a protocol-agnostic rendering engine (Rule #1). Its CLI is a self-contained frontend toolchain — like vite, next, or astro — and is not distributed as a plugin of any meta-CLI.

If you want to aggregate it under another host CLI (e.g. an os umbrella), write a thin wrapper in that host's repo that shells out to objectui. Don't re-shape this package to its conventions.

Commands

objectui init [name]

Create a new Object UI application with a sample schema.

objectui init my-app
objectui init my-app --template form
objectui init . --template dashboard

Options

  • -t, --template <template>simple, form, or dashboard (default: dashboard)

objectui dev [schema]

Start a development server with hot reload. Opens the browser automatically.

objectui dev app.json
objectui dev my-schema.json --port 8080
objectui dev --no-open

Options

  • -p, --port <port> — default 3000
  • -h, --host <host> — default localhost
  • --no-open — do not open browser

objectui build [schema]

Build the application for production.

objectui build app.json
objectui build --out-dir build
objectui build --clean

Options

  • -o, --out-dir <dir> — default dist
  • --clean — clean output directory before build

objectui start

Serve the production build locally.

objectui start
objectui start --port 8080 --dir build

Options

  • -p, --port <port> — default 3000
  • -h, --host <host> — default 0.0.0.0
  • -d, --dir <dir> — default dist

objectui serve [schema]

Legacy alias of dev (kept for older scripts).

objectui lint

Lint the generated application code via ESLint.

objectui lint --fix

objectui test

Run the application's tests via Vitest.

objectui test --watch
objectui test --coverage
objectui test --ui

objectui generate <type> <name> (alias g)

Generate new resources (resource/object, page, plugin).

objectui add <component>

Add a new component renderer to your project.

objectui validate [schema]

Validate a schema file against the ObjectUI specification.

objectui check, objectui doctor, objectui studio, objectui analyze, objectui create plugin <name>

Utility commands — see objectui --help.

Quick start

objectui init my-dashboard --template dashboard
cd my-dashboard
objectui dev app.json

Programmatic API

import { serve, init } from '@object-ui/cli';

await serve('app.json', { port: '3000', host: 'localhost' });
await init('my-app', { template: 'dashboard' });

Compatibility

  • Node.js ≥ 18
  • TypeScript ≥ 5.0 (strict mode)
  • @objectstack/spec ^3.3.0
  • @objectstack/client ^3.3.0
  • Tailwind CSS ≥ 3.4
