Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@oc-mui/plugin-system

v1.3.0

Published

Plugin runtime for the Opencast Management UI — createPlugin, PluginManager, and extension-point registration.

Readme

@oc-mui/plugin-system

The runtime every plugin runs on. Provides createPlugin(), the PluginManager, extension-point resolution, and the React context that exposes them to components.

Contract: this package implements the Manifest and Runtime API contracts — current versions and freeze guarantees live in docs/reference/contracts.md. API surface is mechanically tracked in etc/plugin-system.api.md.

Usage

import { createPlugin, type PluginManager } from "@oc-mui/plugin-system";

export const myPlugin = createPlugin({
  namespace: "my-namespace",
  type: "app",
  version: "1.0.0",

  initialize(manager: PluginManager) {
    manager.registerObject("apps:definitions", "my-app", {
      id: "my-app",
      name: "My App",
      routePath: "/my-app",
      component: MyAppComponent,
    });
  },

  activate() {},
  deactivate() {},
});

The full plugin-authoring walkthrough lives at docs/extend/plugin-guide.md.

API

| Symbol | Purpose | |--------|---------| | createPlugin(options) | The entry point. Builds a plugin from { namespace, type, version, initialize, activate, deactivate }. | | createPluginManager() | Factory for a fresh PluginManager. Used by the shell at boot and by the test harness. | | PluginProvider, usePluginManager() | React context for accessing the manager from components. | | ComponentResolver<P> | Looks up a component registered on an extension point and renders it with componentProps. Falls back to defaultComponent if none registered. | | getAllApps(manager), getAppById(manager, id) | Read helpers over the apps:definitions registry. | | createAppRegistryPlugin(), createObjectRegistryPlugin(), createRendererPlugin() | The three built-in plugins the shell wires up before any user plugins. | | fragmentRegistry, FragmentRegistryService | GraphQL fragment registry used by @oc-mui/query. | | checkApiVersionCompatibility(required, host?), parseSemver(input), PLUGIN_API_VERSION | Runtime checks for the host-vs-plugin API version handshake. | | SHARED_RUNTIME_MAJORS, checkSharedDependencyCompatibility(deps, hostMajors?), parseRangeMajor(range) | The Shared Runtime Dependencies contract: which majors of react, @oc-mui/*, … the host provides, and the check a remote plugin's declared ranges run through before load. | | validatePluginMetadata(json) | Zod-backed runtime validation against the manifest schema. |

For the exhaustive type-level signature, read etc/plugin-system.api.md — it's committed and CI-checked.

Architecture

PluginManager
├── Object registry (registerObject, getObjects, removeObject)
├── Component registry (registerComponent — resolved by ComponentResolver)
├── Function registry    (addFunction, executeFunction)
├── Event bus (emit, on, off)
└── App registry         (built-in; populated via apps:definitions)

Built-in plugins live in src/builtins/ — the renderer, app registry, and object registry are registered by the shell before any user plugin runs. They're public exports so the test harness can wire them up too.

Layer

Foundation. Depends only on @oc-mui/utils and React. Higher-layer packages (@oc-mui/query, @oc-mui/router, @oc-mui/ui, etc.) depend on this one — never the other way around.
