Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@octanejs/zag

v0.0.31

Published

Zag state-machine bindings for Octane, backed by the framework-agnostic @zag-js core packages.

Readme

@octanejs/zag

Zag state-machine bindings for the Octane UI framework.

Installation

npm install @octanejs/zag
pnpm add @octanejs/zag

This package ports @zag-js/[email protected] onto Octane while reusing the framework-agnostic @zag-js/core, @zag-js/store, @zag-js/types, and @zag-js/utils packages unchanged. It is the runtime substrate for Octane ports of component libraries built on Zag, including Ark UI and Chakra UI.

Change the framework adapter import while keeping machine definitions and connect functions on their existing @zag-js/* packages:

// before
import { normalizeProps, useMachine } from '@zag-js/react';

// after
import { normalizeProps, useMachine } from '@octanejs/zag';
import { normalizeProps, useMachine } from '@octanejs/zag';
import * as toggle from '@zag-js/toggle';

export function Toggle() @{
  const service = useMachine(toggle.machine, { id: 'example' });
  const api = toggle.connect(service, normalizeProps);

  <button {...api.getRootProps()}>{api.pressed ? 'On' : 'Off'}</button>
}

API

The public surface matches @zag-js/[email protected]:

  • useMachine runs a Zag machine with Octane hooks.
  • normalizeProps types Zag-generated host props for Octane JSX.
  • Portal renders into document.body or a supplied container and supports disabled and server-rendered in-place output.
  • mergeProps is re-exported from @zag-js/core.
  • useSyncExternalStore is re-exported from Octane.

The adapter forwards Octane's compiler-assigned hook slots through every composed hook and through Zag's indirect bindable and track callbacks. Distinct machines and bindable context values therefore remain independent.

Verification

Behavioral tests cover transitions, bindable context, independent hook call sites, multi-child portals, disabled portals, and server rendering. A differential test runs the same machine through this package and @zag-js/[email protected] and compares the state/context trace. Published source and dependency checks ensure React is development-only.

Current scope and verification status are tracked in the generated bindings status table, sourced from this package's status.json.
