Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@octaneui/icons

Framework-native icon packages for Octane, generated from upstream icon sets. Each family ships as its own subpath (starting with @octaneui/icons) so future sets can be added without collisions.

Icons are plain Octane components: no React, no Lucide runtime, and no @lucide/icons dependency ship in the published package. Each icon's SVG node data is inlined at generation time — @lucide/icons is only used by the code generator, as a dev dependency.

Install

bun add @octaneui/icons

Usage

Named icons are tree-shakeable and accept familiar Lucide presentation props:

import { Camera, CircleAlert } from "@octaneui/icons/lucide";

export function Toolbar() @{
  <nav>
    <Camera size={20} strokeWidth={1.5} aria-label="Camera" />
    <CircleAlert color="tomato" absoluteStrokeWidth />
  </nav>
}

Provider defaults and per-icon deep imports are supported:

import { Camera } from "@octaneui/icons/icons/camera";
import { LucideProvider } from "@octaneui/icons/lucide";

export function App() @{
  <LucideProvider color="rebeccapurple" strokeWidth={1.5}>
    <Camera />
  </LucideProvider>
}

DynamicIcon resolves an icon by name at runtime via a lazy, code-split import — intended for client-only, interactive use (search/browse UIs) since it loads icon data with useState/useEffect after mount:

import { DynamicIcon } from "@octaneui/icons/dynamic";

export function IconPreview({ name }: { name: string }) @{
  <DynamicIcon name={name} fallback={() => <span>…</span>} />
}

Props

Every icon accepts:

| Prop | Type | Default | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | size | string \| number | 24 | Sets both width and height. | | color | string | currentColor | Sets stroke. | | strokeWidth | string \| number | 2 | | | absoluteStrokeWidth | boolean | false | Keeps visual stroke weight constant across sizes. | | class / className | ClassValue | — | Merged with the generated lucide lucide-<name> classes. | | ref | IconRef | — | Ref to the underlying <svg>. |

Set shared defaults for a subtree with LucideProvider.

Regenerating

The lucide family is generated from @lucide/icons (pinned as a dev dependency). To refresh it after bumping that dependency:

bun run generate:lucide

bun run generate:lucide:check verifies the checked-in output is current without writing anything (used in CI).

License

Lucide icon geometry is ISC licensed by Lucide Icons and Contributors, with some icons additionally MIT licensed via the Feather project. See LICENSE for the full text.
