Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@offline-protocol/cli

v0.2.6

Published

Offline Protocol developer CLI (offline). Authenticate, scaffold apps, and serve MCP tools.

Readme

@offline-protocol/cli

npm package for the Offline Protocol developer CLI (offline).

The package is a small Node.js launcher. npm installs the native offline binary for your machine only, from the matching optional dependency (@offline-protocol/cli-darwin-arm64, -darwin-x64, -linux-x64, -linux-arm64 or -win32-x64), so an install downloads one binary (about 10 MB unpacked), not all five (about 50 MB). Keep optional dependencies enabled (do not install with --omit=optional).

npm install -g @offline-protocol/cli
offline --version

Supported platforms: macOS (arm64, x64), Linux (x64, arm64), Windows (x64).

Sign in and API keys

offline login # opens the developer portal in your browser
offline login --email # email code sign-in in the terminal
offline whoami

offline login signs you in to the Offline Protocol developer portal at https://dev.offlineprotocol.com and stores an application API key on this machine. offline setup, orgs, apps and keys manage organizations, applications and API keys and need offline login --email. You can also create, rotate and revoke API keys in the developer portal at https://dev.offlineprotocol.com. The local MCP server (offline mcp serve) needs no login.

What it stores and sends

  • Sign-in writes your API key, developer session token, email and account IDs to ~/.offline/config.json as plain JSON (0600 on macOS and Linux). offline logout deletes it, and revokes a key the CLI created.
  • offline update asks registry.npmjs.org for the latest version, only when you run it.
  • Scaffolding runs npm install, which contacts your configured registries.
  • No usage analytics or crash reports.

The privacy policy at https://www.offlineprotocol.com/privacy has the details.
