Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Command-line tool for PII detection, redaction, and pattern testing. Detects PII in text, scans for severity breakdowns, records feedback for adaptive learning, and exports/imports learned patterns.

Installation

npm install -g @openredaction/cli

Requires Node >= 20.

Usage

# Detect and redact PII
openredaction detect "Email [email protected] or SSN 123-45-6789"

# Scan with severity breakdown
openredaction scan "Call 555-123-4567 for details"

# Use a compliance preset
openredaction detect "Patient SSN: 123-45-6789" --preset hipaa

# Output as JSON
openredaction detect "Email [email protected]" --json

Commands

Pattern Testing

The package also installs openredaction-test-pattern for validating regex patterns used in custom detectors:
