Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Tree-shakeable Vue 3 SVG components for OpenIcons

Readme

@openvue/openicons-vue

Tree-shakeable Vue 3 SVG components for OpenIcons — 323 icons for OpenVue and other OpenVi Foundation projects.

npm install @openvue/openicons-vue

Usage

Import icons individually so bundlers can drop the rest:

<script setup>
import OiCheck from '@openvue/openicons-vue/icons/OiCheck';
import OiTrash from '@openvue/openicons-vue/icons/OiTrash';
</script>

<template>
  <OiCheck />
  <OiTrash :size="20" />
</template>

The barrel import is tree-shaken just as well by any modern bundler, if you prefer it:

import { OiCheck, OiTrash } from '@openvue/openicons-vue';

Importing two icons from the barrel produces a 1.3 KB bundle (667 bytes gzipped); all 323 icons come to 166 KB (44 KB gzipped).

Props

| Prop | Type | Default | Description | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | size | number \| string | '1em' | Width and height of the svg | | title | string | — | Accessible name |

Any other attribute (class, style, event listeners) passes through to the <svg>.

Sizing and color

Icons default to 1em and fill: currentColor, so they inherit from surrounding text with no extra CSS:

<p style="font-size: 1.5rem; color: tomato">
  Deleted <OiTrash />
</p>

Accessibility

Icons are aria-hidden="true" by default, which is right for the common case of an icon beside a text label — announcing it would only add noise.

When an icon carries meaning on its own, give it a title. That renders an SVG <title> and switches the element to role="img":

<button>
  <OiTrash title="Delete item" />
</button>

Icon names

Component names are the PascalCase form of the CSS class, prefixed Oi: oi-sort-alpha-down-alt becomes OiSortAlphaDownAlt.

Browse and search the full set in docs/index.html, which shows the import line for every icon.

Relationship to the webfont

This package and @openvue/openicons cover the same 323 icons. Use the font when you want a drop-in <i class="oi oi-check"> or are migrating from PrimeIcons; use these components when you want per-icon bundling and real SVG in the DOM.
