Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@osdlabel/react

v0.22.0

Published

React implementation of the osdlabel image annotation library — components, hooks, and state management using React Context and Immer.

Readme

@osdlabel/react

React bindings for osdlabel — a web-based image annotation library for gigapixel/DZI images, powered by OpenSeaDragon deep zoom and Fabric.js v7 canvas rendering.

Re-exports everything from the framework-agnostic osdlabel core plus React components, hooks, and Immer-based state management. Works with React 18 and 19.

Features

  • Deep zoom annotation of gigapixel DZI images or plain image files
  • Multi-image grid (up to 16 images) with one active annotation cell at a time
  • Rectangle, circle, line, point, polyline/polygon, and freehand path tools
  • Vertex editing on polygons and polylines (long-press to move, insert, delete)
  • Convert a selected circle to its bounding rectangle
  • Annotation contexts with per-tool constraints (max count, count scope), with . / , to cycle between them
  • Derived text labels, calibrated measurements, and connector lines via decoration providers
  • Per-cell view controls — rotate, flip, and tonal adjustment (exposure, contrast, invert) — with overlay annotations following in lockstep
  • Drag-driven custom controls via the customControl overlay mode
  • Configurable keyboard shortcuts
  • Versioned JSON serialization

Installation

npm install @osdlabel/react react react-dom fabric openseadragon

Quick Start

import { createRoot } from 'react-dom/client';
import { Annotator, createImageId, createAnnotationContextId } from '@osdlabel/react';
import type { ImageSource, AnnotationContext } from '@osdlabel/react';

const images: ImageSource[] = [
  {
    id: createImageId('slide-1'),
    tileSource: 'https://example.com/slides/slide-1.dzi',
    label: 'Slide 1',
  },
];

const contexts: AnnotationContext[] = [
  {
    id: createAnnotationContextId('review'),
    label: 'Review',
    tools: [
      { type: 'rectangle', maxCount: 5, countScope: 'per-image' },
      { type: 'circle' },
      { type: 'point' },
    ],
  },
];

function App() {
  return (
    <div style={{ width: '100vw', height: '100vh' }}>
      <Annotator
        images={images}
        contexts={contexts}
        onAnnotationsChange={(annotations) => console.log(annotations)}
      />
    </div>
  );
}

createRoot(document.getElementById('app')!).render(<App />);

The Annotator registers the Fabric id custom property automatically when its viewer mounts, so there is no setup call to remember. initFabricModule() is still exported and idempotent if you build Fabric objects yourself before any viewer exists.

Composable API

Prefer to assemble the UI yourself? Wrap your tree in <AnnotatorProvider>, call useAnnotator() for state and actions, then compose Toolbar, GridView, Filmstrip, StatusBar, GridControls, ContextSwitcher, and ViewControls:

import {
  AnnotatorProvider,
  useAnnotator,
  Toolbar,
  GridView,
  Filmstrip,
  StatusBar,
  GridControls,
  ContextSwitcher,
  ViewControls,
  serialize,
  deserialize,
} from '@osdlabel/react';

ViewControls exposes the per-cell rotate / flip / exposure / contrast / invert actions. It is shown by default inside Annotator — pass showViewControls={false} to hide it.

Sub-path barrels are also available: @osdlabel/react/components, @osdlabel/react/state, @osdlabel/react/hooks.

Documentation

Full documentation, the composable API, decoration providers, and keyboard shortcuts live in the main repository.
