Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Install the complete Go-powered toolchain as a project development dependency (Node.js 22.12+ on the 22.x line, 24.x, or 26+):

npm install -D @oxguard/tsguard
npx tsguard check
npx tsguard audit

With pnpm:

pnpm add -D @oxguard/tsguard
pnpm exec tsguard check
pnpm exec tsguard audit

The small Node launcher runs the matching Go binary with the caller's arguments, working directory, environment and terminal streams. The package owns pinned lint, type, test/coverage, FTA, secrets, vulnerability-audit, dead-code and duplicate analysis tools. The five native packages ship Go and Opengrep binaries and are optional dependencies pinned to the exact launcher version, restricted by npm os and cpu: linux-x64, linux-arm64, darwin-x64, darwin-arm64 and win32-x64. Linux Go binaries are built with CGO disabled. Linux packages contain glibc and musl Opengrep builds; the launcher selects the appropriate engine.

There are no installation scripts or install-time binary downloads. The project manifest lists the tsguard package; its implementation tools are transitive dependencies. Commands work immediately, without running setup. Missing lint, type and secrets configs use cache-local defaults; existing project configs and declared TypeScript/test tools take precedence. Coverage still requires actual project tests; findings and vulnerabilities still fail the applicable gates.

setup in npm mode verifies the owned tools and offers project hooks. Standalone Go installations retain their existing setup behavior. CVE auditing and Opengrep's default remote rule sets require network access when scans run. Opengrep license and source notices are included in the native package's licenses/ directory.

The unreleased maintainability candidate adds a zero-config Ultracite/Biome baseline and advisory smell/module analysis to check. Focused commands are maintainability, smells, structure, and change --baseline <Git ref>. Project lint configurations remain authoritative. Missing optional baselines are not evaluated and do not fail the command. Scope and limits: https://github.com/oxalc88/oxguard/blob/main/docs/maintainability.md

typed-lint provides a separate semantic-only Oxlint/tsgolint gate after types; Biome remains the syntax linter and formatter. The native backend uses TypeScript 7 semantics. Unsupported options, unresolved types and non-strict null checking leave assessment incomplete; read JSON and the native artifact rather than claiming a pass. The review skill follows the target project's AGENTS.md and labels design judgments separately from analyzer findings.
