Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

P31 CANON — the agent-native design system. Tokens + contracts + CSS, generated exports only; a family-first, tamper-evident design canon (Apache-2.0).

@p31/canon

The P31 design canon — a family-first, agent-native design system. Apache-2.0. Built by P31 Labs for neurodivergent families; consumed by agents as easily as humans.

One source of truth: packages/canon/src/theming/theme-store.ts. Everything — the W3C DTCG export, the typed P31TokenName contract, the CSS, this DESIGN.md — is generated from it. There is no second definition.

What you get

  • Typed tokens — P31TokenName, a compile-time contract for every token.
  • W3C DTCG export — tokens/tokens.dtc.json (Design Tokens Format Module 2025.10).
  • DESIGN.md — Google's open format for coding agents: YAML token front-matter + rationale. Read it, and an agent knows the design system.
  • The Loom log — the tamper-evident, append-only event log that the design system's state folds over (loom/hash-chain, loom/gate). The log is the runtime, not a layer bolted on.
  • Privacy by construction — the log is an artifact record, never a person record; care proofs (loom/love) return verdicts, never events.

Quick start

pnpm install
pnpm build # regenerates DTCG, CSS, contracts, exports, DESIGN.md

Drop DESIGN.md in your project root and any AI coding agent (your CLI of choice, the P31 MCP surface) instantly understands how P31 UI should look.

Design principles

  1. Family-first — 48px touch floor (56/64 recommended/large), above WCAG AAA.
  2. Accessible by default — WCAG 2.2 AA minimum; OKLCH perceptual math.
  3. Sensory-aware — muted and warmLight modes; prefers-reduced-motion collapses duration, never disables animation.
  4. Agent-native — typed tokens, AAF manifest, DESIGN.md, tamper-evident log.
