Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Client-side GoCardless adapter for PayFanout (redirect to the GoCardless-hosted bank authorisation flow — no card fields). No secrets, no server code.

@payfanout/adapter-gocardless

Client-side GoCardless adapter for PayFanout: one-off bank payments via the GoCardless-hosted authorisation flow (redirect), behind the same UI contract as every other PSP.

No secrets, no server code, no card fields. There is no client-side key at all — the session's clientSecret (the hosted authorisation_url) carries everything.

It implements the ClientPaymentAdapter contract from @payfanout/core and plugs into @payfanout/react. GoCardless permits bank authorisation only on its own hosted pages, so this adapter renders a small informational panel instead of payment fields, and confirm() redirects the payer to the hosted flow (a genuine flow: "redirect" method — never faked as embedded).

📖 Documentation: https://donapulse.github.io/payfanout/ · React usage · Set up GoCardless

Installation

pnpm add @payfanout/react @payfanout/adapter-gocardless react react-dom

Usage

import { PayFanoutProvider, PaymentFields, PayButton } from "@payfanout/react";
import { GoCardlessClientAdapter } from "@payfanout/adapter-gocardless";

const gocardless = new GoCardlessClientAdapter({ environment: "sandbox" }); // never inferred

<PayFanoutProvider adapters={[gocardless]} initialPsp="gocardless">
  <PaymentFields clientSecret={session.clientSecret} />
  <PayButton onResult={(result) => …}>Pay by bank</PayButton>
</PayFanoutProvider>

Clicking Pay redirects to the GoCardless-hosted flow; the payer authorises at their bank and lands back on the session's returnUrl.

The return trip

On the returnUrl page, useRedirectReturn (from @payfanout/react) probes this adapter's handleRedirectReturn, which resolves processing — GoCardless is explicit that the redirect must never decide the outcome. Confirm server-side with retrievePayment(billing_request_id) or via webhooks (batched — see the server adapter's README).

Customization

  • fieldOptions.description — replaces the informational panel's text.
  • appearance.panel — inline CSS properties for the panel. The authorisation UI itself is GoCardless-hosted and not themeable from the client.

What's inside

  • GoCardlessClientAdapter — mount (informational panel), confirm (redirect), handleRedirectReturn, and honest flow: "redirect" capabilities.

Pair it on the server with @payfanout/adapter-gocardless-server, which creates the billing request + hosted flow this adapter redirects to.
