Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Vite plugin for .pdx Single File Components — compiles @if/@for/@switch to optimized JS

Readme

@pdxui/compiler

Vite plugin that compiles .pdx Single File Components into standard Web Components.

Architecture

.pdx file → SFC Parser → Template Parser → Script Analyzer → Signal Rewriter → Code Generator → JS module
                                                                                      ↓
                                                                              DTS Generator → .pdx.d.ts

Reading Order (for new developers)

  1. src/plugin.ts — Entry point. Vite plugin that triggers compilation on .pdx files.
  2. src/parser/sfc.ts — Splits .pdx into <template>, <script setup>, <style> blocks.
  3. src/parser/template.ts — Parses template into AST: @if, @for, @switch, {{ interpolation }}.
  4. src/compiler/script-analyzer.ts — Analyzes <script setup>: extracts @prop, @event, $signal, auto-expose list.
  5. src/compiler/signal-rewrite.ts — Transforms count++ → __count.set(v => v + 1) in function bodies.
  6. src/compiler/codegen.ts — Assembles final JS module from all the above. Two modes: new (decorator+rune) and legacy (defineProps).
  7. src/compiler/dts-generator.ts — Generates .pdx.d.ts for IntelliSense.

Two Compilation Modes

New mode (decorator + rune): detected by @prop or $signal in script.

@prop label: string = 'Hello';   → props: { label: { type: String, default: 'Hello' } }
let count = $signal(0);          → const __count = signal(0, { name: 'file:count' })
count++;                         → __count.set(v => v + 1)
// No return needed              → auto-generated from top-level declarations

Legacy mode: detected by defineProps or explicit return.

const props = defineProps({ label: { type: String } });
const count = signal(0);
return { count };

Key Transformations

| Source (.pdx) | Compiled (JS) | |---------------|---------------| | {{ expr }} | ${() => expr} or ${ctx.expr} | | @if (cond) { ... } | when(() => cond, () => html\...`)| |@for (items as item; track item.id)|each(() => items, 'id', (item) => ...)| |@switch/@case/@default|match(() => expr, { case: ... })| |@require ('perm')|requirePermission('perm', ...)| |@click="handler"|@click=${ctx.handler}| |::value="signal"|::value=${ctx.signal}| |:prop="expr"|:prop=${() => ctx.expr}| || CSS with[data-pdx-HASH]` attribute scoping |
