Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

PiChamber server and browser UI for the Pi coding agent. It serves the browser workspace and authenticated Pi routes, and owns its per-profile Pi session daemon.

Requirements

Server needs Node.js 22.19 or newer (24 recommended) or Bun 1.4 or newer (1.4.2 recommended).

Background pichamber serve picks Node first with Bun fallback. Foreground serve --foreground runs in the current runtime with no PATH lookup. Startup services reuse the pinned runtime from startup enable. Docker images launch from pinned Bun 1.4.2. Update a Docker deployment by pulling a new image and recreating the container; pichamber update is disabled inside the image. The desktop app runs its bundled Node in-process. The mobile app connects to an existing server.

Install

bun add -g @pi-chamber/web

Other package managers:

npm install -g @pi-chamber/web
pnpm add -g @pi-chamber/web
yarn global add @pi-chamber/web

Run without installing:

bunx @pi-chamber/web serve
npx @pi-chamber/web serve
pnpm dlx @pi-chamber/web serve

Quick start

In an interactive terminal:

pichamber serve

The command walks through access, port, authentication, browser UI versus API-only, and background versus foreground mode, then shows a review before starting. Open the printed URL. Bare pichamber starts with default settings without the wizard.

For scripts and non-interactive shells, pass the setup flags explicitly:

pichamber serve --port 3000 --ui-password "choose-a-strong-password"
pichamber serve --port 3000 --lan --ui-password "choose-a-strong-password"
pichamber serve --port 3000 --api-only --ui-password "choose-a-strong-password"

Commands

Run pichamber --help for the current flags.

| Command | What it does | | --- | --- | | serve | Start the server (guided setup in interactive terminals, with a review before starting) | | status | Show running instances | | logs | Tail logs (--no-follow for a one-time tail) | | stop / restart | Stop or restart instances (broad stops confirm when more than one is affected; --force skips) | | startup | Run at login or boot (enable is guided; status / disable to inspect or remove) | | tunnel | Expose the server via Cloudflare Tunnel (start is guided; profiles cover repeatable runs) | | connect-url | Create a one-time pairing link for another client (--qr in interactive terminals; starts the server if needed) | | update | Install updates (reviews before changing anything; --yes skips confirmation, --channel stable\|rc overrides once) | | version | Print the installed version |

Scripts and automation

--quiet and --json never prompt, and non-interactive shells never prompt either. Supply required values as flags. --json emits JSON only; --quiet keeps one concise result line.

Security

Servers reachable beyond this machine require a UI password. Pass --ui-password (omit the value to generate one) or set PICHAMBER_UI_PASSWORD. Prefer --lan only on a trusted network.
