Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Context Doctor — Descriptor-safe bounded context audits detect pressure, oversized or uninspectable messages, and tool errors. Compaction requests are queued until the agent has settled; confirmed model-backed compaction may incur cost and provides cancellable waits with dedicated cancellation.

Install

npm install --save-exact @pi-harness/plugin-context-doctor

Enable

Add the entry to the Cordis profile the harness starts from:

- id: context-doctor
  name: "@pi-harness/plugin-context-doctor"
  config: {}

The Pi Harness plugin marketplace installs and enables this package for you; the steps above are the manual equivalent.

Audit and compaction boundaries

The audit is descriptor-safe and bounded; it reports current context pressure, oversized or uninspectable messages, and tool errors without invoking message accessors. Unknown configuration keys are rejected instead of silently falling back to defaults. context_doctor compacts only with both compact=true and confirm=true, waits for an active agent run to settle, and uses the SDK's dedicated compaction cancellation without aborting the agent turn.

Context Doctor shares a per-native-session compaction slot with History Compressor and Session Insights. A request made while any of them owns that slot fails explicitly instead of overlapping AgentSession.compact() calls and overwriting the SDK's cancellation controller. Caller cancellation can stop waiting promptly while the slot remains held until the native Promise settles; if the SDK publishes a late compaction_start controller after cancellation, Context Doctor aborts that controller again. If a provider later succeeds, the panel records that native completion rather than falsely labeling it cancelled.

Audit caches and compaction lifecycle state are scoped by both the runtime session object and its session ID. Switching sessions cancels queued or running work from the old scope, and late settlement updates only the captured old state. Panel snapshots include the session ID; the web client rejects retained data that does not match the active session, so a failed panel refresh cannot expose previous-session metrics, recommendations, errors, or compaction state.
