Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Independent Pi role resolution options, contributions and native startup launcher

Readme

pi-ext-roles

Reusable Markdown roles for Pi, with a native launcher and independent resolution APIs.

Roles guide | Configuration | API | Native CLI | Workflow adapter

Requires Node.js 22.19 or newer and Pi on PATH for the launcher. Roles and extensions are trusted configuration, not a security sandbox. Install only code you trust.

Install

For role contributions in Pi:

pi install npm:@piewf/pi-ext-roles

For the standalone pi-role launcher:

npm install -g @piewf/pi-ext-roles

Upgrading from the old workflow CLI? See the migration guide before installing the binary.

Quick start

pi-role --list
pi-role reviewer --identify # print role file path and content
pi-role reviewer
pi-role scout -p "Where is the retry logic?"

Create ~/.pi/agent/pi-ext-roles/roles/code-reader.md:

---
description: Read code and report findings without editing
tools: ['!*', read, grep, find, ls]
---
Trace the relevant code and report concrete findings. Do not edit files.

Then run pi-role code-reader. Choose a model in Pi, with --model, or in the role file. See the roles guide for aliases, resource selectors and project roles.

Included capabilities

Five model-free fallback roles: developer, oracle, researcher, reviewer and scout. Global and authorized project roles override those defaults.

pi-role applies a role and starts one normal Pi process. Native interactive, print/JSON, RPC and session behavior stay with Pi. See CLI contracts and limits.

Extensions contribute packaged roles with registerRoleContribution. Programmatic consumers use discoverRoles, resolveRole and composeRoleConfiguration to obtain definitions and options, then apply them through their own runtime. This package does not create SDK sessions or own their lifecycle.

For workflows, enable this Pi extension explicitly alongside workflows. Its optional preparation hook preserves agent('task', { role: 'reviewer' }) without making workflows understand roles. The independent library and pi-role CLI do not require workflows. See the adapter and recovery contracts.

Development

npm ci
npm run check
npm run test:package
npm run test:terminal

Terminal checks require Python 3 and a Unix PTY. Publishing stays in RELEASING.md.
