Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

💥 Roast My Stack CLI

A toxic, highly opinionated CLI tool that violently roasts your tech stack. Because imposter syndrome isn't enough, you need your terminal to judge you too.

npm version License: MIT PRs Welcome

🤔 What is this?

Have you ever felt too confident after fixing a bug? Do you think your tech stack is the best in the world? Think again. @pknet/roast is a lightweight, zero-dependency CLI tool designed to completely destroy your ego. Just tell it what programming language or framework you are using, and it will deliver a brutal, customized roast straight to your terminal.

🚀 Installation & Usage

The best way to experience the toxicity is directly via npx. No permanent installation required!

# 🔥 Recommended: Run directly via npx
npx @pknet/roast <framework_or_language>

If you are a masochist and want to be roasted every single day, you can install it globally:

# Install globally
npm install -g @pknet/roast

# Run it anywhere
roast <framework_or_language>

💀 Examples

Prepare yourself for emotional damage:

$ npx @pknet/roast react

🔥 ROASTING [REACT]:
💀 "Oh, React? Tell me you love writing `useEffect` 50 times a day without telling me."
$ npx @pknet/roast python

🔥 ROASTING [PYTHON]:
💀 "Python: Where a single space can destroy your entire application."
$ npx @pknet/roast php

🔥 ROASTING [PHP]:
💀 "PHP? Did you just wake up from a coma since 2005?"

📚 Currently Supported Targets

We currently have specific roasts for the following victims:

  • react, vue, angular, svelte
  • javascript, typescript
  • python, java, php, go
  • (If you type something we don't know, you'll get a default roast!)

🤝 Contributing (WE NEED YOUR SALT!)

Is your favorite framework missing? Do you have a burning hatred for a specific technology and want to share it with the world?

We want your toxic energy! Contributing is incredibly easy—you don't even need to know how to code, just how to edit a JSON object.

How to add your own roast:

  1. Fork this repository.
  2. Clone it to your local machine: git clone https://github.com/pknetme/cli-roast.git
  3. Open the cli.js file.
  4. Find the db object at the top of the file.
  5. Add your sassy comment to the existing arrays, or create a new key for a new language.
    const db = {
      // ... existing languages ...
      "ruby": [
        "Ruby on Rails? Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame from 2012."
      ]
    }
  6. Commit your changes: git commit -m "feat: add brutal ruby roast"
  7. Push to your fork and Submit a Pull Request.

Let's build the most toxic CLI on the internet, together. 💖
