Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@postkit/email

v0.2.0

Published

Email-safe Postkit components rendered with Chakra Email primitives

Readme

@postkit/email

Email-safe Postkit renderers built with @chakra-email/core. The package keeps portable Postkit content recognizable while deliberately adapting interactive web components to the constraints of delivered HTML email.

Install

npm install @postkit/email @chakra-email/core react react-dom

Render an email

import { render } from '@chakra-email/core';
import { Callout, CallToAction, PostkitEmailProvider } from '@postkit/email';

const html = await render(
  <PostkitEmailProvider>
    <Callout title="Before you publish" tone="warning">
      Review the destination and audience.
    </Callout>
    <CallToAction
      title="Read the field guide"
      primaryLabel="Read now"
      primaryHref="https://example.com/guide"
    />
  </PostkitEmailProvider>,
);

The same integration is compiled in CI from examples/email/render-newsletter.tsx.

PostkitEmailProvider accepts Chakra Email theme overrides. It does not load Chakra UI or install a client-side runtime.

Supported components

| Portable component | Email behavior | | ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------ | | Aside | Expanded callout | | Callout | Expanded, tone-aware callout | | CallToAction | Text plus email-safe button and secondary link | | Figure | Sanitized image, optional destination, caption/credit | | Audio | Title, caption, and a link to listen | | Video | Optional linked poster, title, caption, and watch link |

Audio and video never emit native media elements because major email clients do not support them consistently. Chakra Email sanitizes authored link and image destinations when the HTML is rendered.

MDX mapping

Use the explicit supported-subset map when an email build compiles trusted MDX:

import { createPostkitEmailMdxComponents } from '@postkit/email';

export const components = createPostkitEmailMdxComponents();

This package does not evaluate MDX, fetch remote metadata, or accept provider credentials. Compile authored content and resolve link metadata in a trusted server or build step before rendering.

Architecture boundary

The renderer-specific JSX intentionally lives here rather than substituting Chakra Email for Chakra UI at compile time. Small normalization functions in the package are framework-neutral and are candidates for a future shared @postkit/core package as the email support matrix expands.
