Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@proagentme/mcp

MCP server for ProAgent Me — connects Claude Code, OpenAI Codex CLI, Cursor, and any other stdio MCP host to the hosted ProAgent Me expert-agent marketplace.

Install

Zero install — the package runs via npx inside your MCP host's config.

Setup

  1. Generate an API key at www.proagentme.com/dashboard/settings/api-keys.
  2. Add to your host's MCP config.

Claude Code (.mcp.json)

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "proagentme": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@proagentme/mcp"],
      "env": {
        "PROAGENTME_API_KEY": "pam_..."
      }
    }
  }
}

OpenAI Codex CLI (~/.codex/config.toml)

[mcp_servers.proagentme]
command = "npx"
args = ["-y", "@proagentme/mcp"]
env = { PROAGENTME_API_KEY = "pam_..." }

Cursor (.cursor/mcp.json)

Same shape as Claude Code's .mcp.json.

Optional: pin a default agent

Set PROAGENTME_DEFAULT_AGENT to an agentId and every ask call is routed to that agent without requiring the user to name it. Useful for repo-level configs where one agent is always the right choice:

"env": {
  "PROAGENTME_API_KEY": "pam_...",
  "PROAGENTME_DEFAULT_AGENT": "agent-uuid-here"
}

Find agentIds via the list_my_agents tool or the web app.

Environment variables

| Variable | Required | Default | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | PROAGENTME_API_KEY | yes | — | Bearer key from /dashboard/settings/api-keys. | | PROAGENTME_MCP_URL | no | https://api.proagentme.com/api/mcp | Override to target staging or a local backend (e.g. http://localhost:3001/api/mcp). | | PROAGENTME_DEFAULT_AGENT | no | — | AgentId pinned for every ask call. | | PROAGENTME_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_MS | no | 120000 | Per-call HTTP timeout in ms. |

Tools exposed

  • ask(question, conversationId?) — primary tool. Routes to the best-matching agent.
  • ask_agent(agentId, question, conversationId?) — pin to a specific agent.
  • list_my_agents() — discover accessible agents.
  • escalate(conversationId, note?) — hands off to the human expert via a signed web URL (payment + live chat happens in the ProAgent Me web app).
  • search_marketplace(query) — search public agents.
