Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@protoyard/gamification

v1.5.0

Published

Framework-agnostic gamification engine for Protoyard prototypes: points ledger, levels, badges, missions, ISO-week streaks and leaderboards (no Svelte).

Readme

@protoyard/gamification

Framework-agnostic gamification engine for Protoyard prototypes: a points ledger (provisional and reverted entries), levels from thresholds, badges with progress, missions (accept, progress/goal, optional deadline, reward), ISO-week streaks and a leaderboard with a privacy opt-out. Pure TypeScript and zod — no Svelte, no product branding.

A generic, product-agnostic engine (ADR-041).

Install

{
  "dependencies": {
    "@protoyard/gamification": "workspace:*"
  }
}
import {
  acceptMission,
  badgeProgress,
  levelFor,
  pointsTotals,
  rankLeaderboard,
  streakWeeks,
} from '@protoyard/gamification';

Surface

| Area | API | | --- | --- | | Ledger | PointsEntrySchema, pointsTotals, appendPointsEntry, confirmProvisionalEntry, revertPointsBySource | | Levels | DEFAULT_LEVEL_THRESHOLDS, levelFor(verified, thresholds?) | | Time | isoWeek, streakWeeks, isPastDeadline | | Badges | BadgeDefSchema, badgeProgress(defs, counts, earnedIds) | | Missions | MissionDefSchema, missionProgress, acceptMission, missionsFor | | Leaderboard | LeaderboardMemberSchema, rankLeaderboard, verifiedPointsInWindow, rankingOptInFromChoice |

Callers own catalogs (badge and mission defs) and how domain events become counts. Service helpers are pure state transitions meant to run inside a prototype service (session.assert → zod → environment.run → db.transaction); this package never opens IndexedDB.

Ledger rules

  • Verified points: provisional === false and reverted === false.
  • Provisional points: live provisional rows only (shown as in-progress).
  • Reverting a source marks matching live rows reverted: true (idempotent).
  • Confirming a provisional row clears provisional on that id.
  • Ids (ledger rows, badges, missions) are a lowercase letter then up to 63 letters, digits, - or _, so createRuntimeId('pts') and seeded ctx.ids.next('deal') ids validate.

Missions

A mission completes when it is accepted, not expired and at its goal. Set requiresAcceptance: false on a definition to complete it on progress alone; its progress row then carries requiresAcceptance: false.

Levels

levelFor(140) on the default thresholds is level 3 (floor 100, next 225, missing 85). The top level has next: null and missing: 0.

Streaks

streakWeeks(actionDates, now) counts consecutive ISO weeks (YYYY-Www, Monday-start, UTC) that contain at least one action, ending this week or last week when the current week is empty.

Leaderboard privacy

Only members with rankingOptIn: true appear. Rankings use verified points, optionally filtered to a YYYY-MM month on entry.at. Ties break on subjectId ascending.

Honesty

This is simulated progress for prototypes. It is not a security boundary, not real currency and not a live multiplayer ranking service.
