Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Provenance

Never lose the why behind your decisions.

Provenance is a tool for building requirements traceability, from source to requirement to rule. A Rule is an atomic behavioural obligation that can exist before its implementation; #[rule("rule_id")] binds production code to it, and #[verifies("rule_id", method)] binds evidence.

Installation

cargo build --release -p provenance-cli --all-features

The binary lands at target/release/provenance. Put it on your PATH.

Quick start

# set up a repo (commit .provenance/state/, ignore .provenance/cache/)
provenance init --path . --scope default --path-prefix .

# put something in the graph
provenance requirements create --scope default --id req_exports \
--statement "Exports finish in under a minute"

# see where things stand
provenance prime

Essential commands

| Command | What it does | | --- | --- | | provenance prime | Bounded low-res graph frontier; proposals surface separately when evidence or claimed territory demands them | | provenance check | Validate the state files | | provenance materialize | Rebuild the SQLite query cache | | provenance graph <requirement> | Show the neighbourhood of a requirement | | provenance graph-reference issue\|show\|verify\|exact-export | Hand off an immutable pinned graph | | provenance traceability <rule> | Walk a Rule back to its Requirement and any producing Resolution | | provenance proposals surface --scope default --changed-path <path> | Surface undisposed proposals when current work touches their evidence or explicit territory | | provenance wiki build / provenance wiki serve | Build or serve the generated wiki with domain browsing and offline search | | provenance coverage scan --path . --validate-rules | Check bindings and report active Rules with no implementation or verification | | provenance sdk check-statement / provenance sdk apply / provenance sdk verification-runs | ASD-STE100 statement preflight, typed desired state, and callback evidence protocol | | provenance stale --since main | Report whether a diff touched, moved, or removed any graph evidence path | | provenance skills install | Install the bundled agent skills (provenance-shaping, provenance-fork-tournament, provenance-swarm-backtrace, provenance-grounded-writing) |

The repository uses the skills/<name>/SKILL.md layout, so the bundled skills can also be installed through the skills.sh ecosystem with npx skills add <owner/repo>.
