Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

A library of example addons for the websmith compiler

Readme

@quatico/websmith-examples

A set of example addons to create your own Generators, Processors or ResultProcessors via the @quatico/websmith-api to customize the compilation output.

See the websmith github repository for a general introduction to the websmith compiler.

Example Generator

The foo-added-generator addon is a generator that creates additional input files for the compilation. It creates an additional source file for every input file with substring "foo" in its file name. The additional file is named "*-added.ts" and contains the original file content. It is compiled with the same options as the original file.

See example code in foo-added-generator/addon.ts for more details.

Example Processor

The foobar-export-processor addon is a processor that modifies all exports of ES modules. It finds all non exported "foobar" functions and adds an export modifier to the function declaration.

See example code in foobar-export-processor/addon.ts for more details.

Example ResultProcessor

The function-json-result-processor addon is a result processor that creates JSON data with all found function names. It consumes all processed source files to find function declarations and arrow functions to extract their names into a JSON file.

See example code in function-json-result-processor/addon.ts for more details.

Example Transformer

The foobar-replace-transformer addon is a transformer that modifies the source code inside a module. It finds all "foobar" identifiers in the source file and replaces them with the string "barfoo".

See example code in foobar-replace-transformer/addon.ts for more details.

Example YAML Generator

The export-yaml-generator is a generator that creates an additional YAML file describing all exported members per module. It creates an additional documentation file as compilation result for all files. It uses a TypeScript custom transformer to collect exported members per module.

See example code in export-yaml-generator/addon.ts for more details.

Foobar Replace Processor vs. Transformer

We demonstrate the differences between Processors and Transformer in foobar-replace-processor and foobar-replace-transformer. The Former creates a processor that uses a TypeScript transformer to replace every found "foobar" identifier with "barfoo". The Latter creates a transformer that replaces every "foobar" identifier with "barfoo".

See example code in foobar-replace-processor/addon.ts and foobar-replace-transformer/addon.ts for more details.
